Minimalist here. I hang onto things for others.

I used to keep more stuff.
I had a homesteading mindset in an urban residence.
    That doesn't work well.
I've had to decide what was serving a useful purpose and keep that, and let someone else have the other items.

Books were the hardest cull, for sure.

I'm moving to minimalism, in the useful/beautiful sense.

i used to be kind of a hoarder, but i've been moving more and more toward minimalism. i think at this point i'm probably at a pretty healthy balance. but i'll probably continue the minimalist slide and in a few years i'll live in an empty apartment with a computer on a milk crate.

And a meditation cushion, a nice camera for blogging about it. Can't forget that.

It's so damn frustrating when you wear three colors!!!

Reformed Hoarder Here.....I Would Never Throw Anything Out If There Was Even The Remotest Chance It Could

Be Useful In The Following 100 Years........ :D

Then 21 months Ago I Moved And Because The Move Was Rushed *for legal reasons* I Filled Up 3 X 4 meter Skip

Bins And A 2 meter One........All From A House That Measured Just 40ft X24ft......... :yikes:

I Just Went Crazy. Been In The House For 30 Years And A Lot Of The Stuff I Hadn't Seen For 30 Years......

Some Days I Regret Throwing Stuff Away.......And Other Days I Think It Was All A Past Chapter In

    My Life And "Good Riddance"......[IMG]

    Cheers Glen.

I'm a bit of a hoarder. I have a hard time letting things go if I have memories attached to them.

    Wait!

You mean we can get rid of stuff?

What if I need it 3 days after I get rid of it?

I'm fine with a lot of stuff, and actually very good at packing/organizing all of the stuff into use based storage locations so that it doesn't look like there's a lot in the space making clutter and discordant Feels.
All of the stuff = hoarder.
Put it THE FUCK AWAY = minimalist?

    Or.. Maybe, just anal retentive?

Minimalist, I go through the house and donate to thrift stores about 4 times a year. Clutter drives me nuts.

Although I do have some hoarder tendencies. I save pickle jars because in the back of my mind i'm going to start canning one day. Even though i probably never will.

I have been steadily moving toward minimalist for several years.

Maybe it's because hubby's illness goes far beyond hoarding. He has stacks of actual trash, not food trash though, consuming two rooms of our house. The first room he did it too is completely unusable. He can barely open the door to that room and reach inside.

I'm so fucking sick of that.

Actually, it's when hoarding becomes keeping garbage and animal corpses hidden in the piles that it requires intervention.

aeri, from all you have written elsewhere, Grumpy needs a Doc.

It's good to let shit go. I hored my books and cds. I think I am ready to go get rid of them but most are in my mom's garage 2000 miles away. I've told my mom to go get some dough for them. I used to hoard comics but sold those to move.

Bit of a hoarder but trying to look over everything with fresh eyes for the past year or so... It's tougher than it looks
