32 Shot In 15 Hours In Chicago As Holiday Weekend Draws To Close

Thirty-two people were shot in 15 hours between about noon on Monday and 3 a.m. on Tuesday to end the July 4th weekend, doubling the total number of gunshot victims from the three previous nights, according to police.
Among the wounded were a 5-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy playing on an Englewood street and two adults who were nearby at the time, according to police.

Freedom is something wonderful to have.

 

There are so many illegal guns already in circulation that gun control will not do anything since these guns are illegal guns -- not guns which are purchased from a gun shop.

 

It seems like nothing will convince people that gun control is important. Take these guns off our streets!

But seriously, a lot of the gun owners are untrainable.

 

Guns are a part of the equation obviously, but in the case of Chicago there is also a huge poverty and gang problem. And a big problem with political corruption which compounds the poverty problem.

 

But Chicago has the strictest gun control laws in the country. So this wasn't supposed to happen, right? Right?

 

It cant be that hard to drive outside of Chicago and obtain a gun legally. Chicago isnt a bubble.

 

I don't support gun control in the form of banning / recalling firearms, but people should be forced to take mandatory gun classes.

The Chicago guns are all prob illegal.

But gun control feels so good, lets enact the measure so we can all feel good ablunt ourselves.

 

If that's the case then why isn't the same in neighboring states with lax gun laws?

 

How is safety classes or knowing how to shoot straight going to curb crime?

 

And criminals will obey such a program? The ones that were already in place they only gave back the cruddy guns that don't work.

 

Good gun control is also about bringing down the unneccesary amount of gun accidents that now occur in the US.

 

Which is only about 600 deaths per year. WAY less than the 32,000 deaths from cars.

 

Still 600 too many I would say, especially if you can prevent a lot of those simply with some education.
