I'm looking forward to the new Star Trek series coming out in 2017, but they could have released a better teaser. Not even a look at the new ship?

    Bring it on [IMG]

So far the franchise has only produced one dud and that was Star Trek: Enterprise the others TNG, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and of course the original Star Trek were fantastic.

It's just the first trailer to pique our curiosity. As we get closer to the debut they'll show us more. So far they've only said it's coming in 2017 but not when in 2017.

I sure hope this thing will get a total makeover.

But not hoping for much really .... cause I just saw the trailer for their MacGyver remake.

I was considering buying all 7 TNG Seasons on Amazon but found out that the local Library has them all for free! I'm going to watch them back to back, 2 episodes a night. Star Trek is so cool! I haven't seen the Enterprise series yet though. But maybe it wasn't meant to be? Lol.

or if you have 68 gigs of free hard drive space, you can download the entire series ;)
I'm currently watching my way through Voyager. on season 3 now.

I seriously hope it's not just a lot of CGI and shit storylines.
Plus I also hope there aren't any idiots who think they can "improve" on the franchise.

the whole emphasis on "new crews" "new villains" "new worlds" "new heroes" AND the fact that the show is named just "Star Trek" and not "Star Trek---something" like every show since the original has me concerned that they may be trying to re-invent the wheel. Plus did you guys notice that the emblem is the same as the one used in the original series.
sure hope they are not trying for a re-make, those always fail.
As long as they maintain Roddenberries philosophy and the continuity of the series/universe, ok, but if they fuck with those fundamentals........[IMG]

yes, if you were familiar with the entire franchise/universe, you would understand how the show "Enterprise" sucked.

I just realized something, ever notice that the Nike "swoosh" insignia is a slightly modified Star Trek badge laying on it's side.
    hmmmmm

I really liked the intro of that series. Too bad it was the best part.

[IMG] I did that as well about a year ago with both Voyager and TNG. Didn't got to Deep space nine, which for me would not be a rewatch but a first. I grew up with the other 2, had a lot of fun rewatching all those seasons. Can't really get into the original series.

I agree. I like the first new movie. And how it did make an acceptable storyline which makes it possible to create new stuff and basically not get stuck on older series. Basically Picard and Voyager etc. never gonna happen in the 'rebooted' Star trek universe. Well not necessarily anyway.

edit: well it fucked up my quoting but i guess its best leaving it like this anyway. Hope its readable... :p

not saying it needs to be the "same old",
I'm saying there is a certain dynamic about the show(s) that's brought them together in a way that without question, they were all in the same "universe". IMO that was lost in the show "Enterprise" and is why it flopped with the established fan-base.

Well that and the fact that Scott Bakula sucks as an actor.

Apparently it's going to start on CBS as a pilot then move to CBS All Access, no cable past the intro show, it'll cost you $5.99 a month for All Access.
So screw that I'll wait for reruns.

New characters are coming out. It will be set after Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country but before The Next Generation.
It will not be on an Enterprise ship and will be an anthology which means each yearly series can change timelines.

Bryan Fuller a writer for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager will be responsible for day to day production. Alex Kurtzman co-writer of Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness will be one of the producers. Nicholas Meyer writer and director of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country will be a writer and consultant. Rod Roddenberry will be one of the executive producers.

Tony Todd might be one actor (he portrayed Worf's brother)

I loved the 4th season of Enterprise, unfortunately by the time they got it right no one was left watching it.
I'd be OK with this series resembling that
DS9 was pretty crap the first couple of seasons, didnt get good until the war with the dominion stuff

One thing that bugs me in the current TV climate is making series with only ten eps a season, Falling skies was the last sci fi show I really got in to, one season finished, and you had to wait 9 months before the next one, I hope they at least do 16 eps a season

January 2017, so its only 8 months away

Dude If you said it was because of Jolene Blalock then I get it, she's smokin' hot, but otherwise the series was well below expectations.

Regarding Star trek Deep Space Nine, it was the strangest thing, right after Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery brooks) shaved his head the series really took off – The Jean Luc Picard effect?

More like when Worf joined. And then they had a ship that would fly everywhere , that is when they TNG'd it

There was too much religion in it, wasn't my favourite.
