so about fifteen years ago I had this dream about my friend and I in a middle of a city with lots of buildings. We are running away from something for awhile then I realize it's a nuclear explosion or some sort of explosion coming towards us and we have been running towards it the whole time.

This dream has come back to me every five or six months since it has first appeared. My friend I still talk to but isn't really I. My life anymore. He was my childhood good friend.

I've always wondered if this meant some sort of destruction I've been trying to run from my whole life but instead of running away I've only been making it worse.

I was just wondering what you all thought about this?

I have recurring themes and elements in some of my dreams too. I will wake up and realize, "Hey! I always have dreams like this." I can't put my finger on it at the moment. I guess last night wasn't one of those times, so it isn't exactly fresh in my mind. But it happens.

I think it's something from the past that stimulates my recurring dreams.

You can't outrun a nuclear explosion no matter which way you go.

I used to dream of flying a lot.....without an airplane.

My recurring dream theme is also about flying. They always start with me standing outside of my parents house and then I run down the hill with my arms out and catch the wind like a bird. Where I end up plying is always different though.

I have another recurring one that takes place in this insanely giant maze of a mall that has all these weird escalators that go nowhere, kind of like the stairs in hogwarts. A good friend of mine has recurring dreams that take place in almost the exact same mall. We like to joke that we are psychically connected.

I am no dream expert though, so sadly I have no insights on your dream.

well thank god for that. a recurring dream about using commercial airlines would drive me to amphetamines.

you should try to remember that the next time you are running with this friends of yours......YOU'RE DREAMING DUDE!!!

use this as a technique to lucid dream - realize you are dreaming and then you can do whatever you want. go and figure out what you're running from if you want.

i can never lucid dream though. i never realize i'm dreaming, even when ridiculous shit is happening. and if i do realize it - i wake up

not necessarily. i realize i'm dreaming in probably half of my dreams, but i rarely have any more control than i do in the real world. sometimes even less. the popular example here is that you're supposed to be able to fly if you're lucid dreaming, but when i try that, the most i ever get is a moon-jump situation, or a couple times i was able to float 15 feet above the ground, and move by some awkward swimming motions.

Personally, I'm not a believer that dreams has anything to do with life. But, you should try reading up on common dream scenarios, because that dream sounds like a common one. Maybe it has to do with 9/11. ?????

YES, i was hoping someone would bring this up. The dream started to appear around 911. I'm canadian but 911 hit me hard for awhile when i was young to the point i was always looking at planes flying above me. Mind you i was a kid at the time. I never really connected them because i wasn't sure what my friend had to do with it.

THANK you everyone for taking the time to reply it means so much to me.

i used to have a re-occurring dream that my teeth were falling out. haven't had it in awhile now, but it is always so convincing. it starts out with me noticing that one of my teeth is loose, and then it quickly turns into several or all of my teeth crumbling into a bloody mess, and me trying to put the pieces back in.

i've read various things that this is supposed to mean, some of them make sense. like being worried about a change in your life or something like that..

sounds a lot better than what i can do in real life haha

To analyze your dreams, describe them as if you're describing them to some one from another planet who knows nothing about life here.

Listen to the words you use.

In this case, what are you saying about the nuclear explosion?

Now, what in your life is like this?

This is really good advice. It's what my friend told me when I mentioned my recurring flying dreams, and I've actually had some mild success lucid dreaming now. Whenever I have that flying dream I am actually able to realize I'm dreaming, which is very cool. One time I even picked where I was going to fly to! I haven't been able to do that in my recurring dreams in the weird mall maze though.

i've never had twice the same dream, but i've had lots of dreams that take place in the same geographical setting on some parallel earth in some parallel universe. (even some that were continuations of previous dreams, taking up where they left off, but never a literal repitition. for which i am thoroughly greatful.) often enough for example, to know that geography reasonably well and even to which transit routes go where. some places have the same or very nearly same sounding names as their corisponding locations on earth, but not the same geographical distribution in relation to each other. one that while not consistant with this earth, are consistant within it.

teleporting is a pretty good hint of dreaming, as i don't recall doing so while awake. there is nothing i can do awake that i can't do in my dreams, but there are several things i can do in my dreams, not always voluntarily either, that i've yet to see happen while awake.

I've learned that when I have a recurring dream about a certain situation or person, it usually shows I'm having trouble letting something or someone go. Maybe you are distressed by how your friendship has disintegrated over time. I can't really tell you how to fix this or get rid of them, I'm still working on that as well.
