For The Growers...how Many Syringes Do I Need?

hello ll....i decided i was going to start a mycology project.. my question is, how many syringes do i need for one tub of PF cakes? how much solution do i inject into each jar?? thanks in advance

 

A multi-spore inoculation is what your talking about doing and not the best way. Starting spores on agar is the best way if you can't locate a proven culture. It's a big operation to do it correctly. Also highly illegal around the world and not advisable to break the law, no matter the long and devoted religious aspects of it's usage.

1cc into each of the 4 sides of the jar. So 4 cc per jar.

It is good to have several 10-12 cc syringes made up in advance as you want to let the spores hydrate for at least 24 hours prior to injecting them. This is just in case because it is easy to shoot to much solution into an injection site (say 1.5 ccs into an injection site instead of 1 cc) and you don't want to end up running our of solution before all your jars are done. Also when doing the PF tek sometimes your syringe needle can get plugged with BRF material which can be a pain in the ass.




You can get away with 1/2 per injection site if you want / need to be stingy with your spores.


After you get a few grows under your belt I highly recommend going into grain based substrates. The PF tek was designed back in the 60-70s and home cultivation has made a lot of progress in the last 50 years.

Also where are you getting your syringes from?

Are you buying them prefilled from a vendor or buying empty sterile syringes and making your own spore syringes?

 

i figured for my first grow id do the pf...like you said after a few under my belt ill switch it up. really excited to start. i was planning on getting my syringes from a vendor. i have no idea how to use a print which i hear is the best way. so ill try syringes first. ill be getting some supplies probably next week to get the jars started. thanks for that tek it looks really easy. i look forward to trying it. i plan to do my hobby for a long time. cant wait! thanks for replying

 

I use less than 1/2 cc per jar. For pf tek I inject 2-3 small drips of solution into each hole. For grain I use about 1/2-3/4 cc per jar
