Are you a feminist? Why or why not? Do you see them as being comprised of different types? If so, what type are you? If not, how do you perceive the collective? Has it helped you? If so, how so?

I think it's mostly different for different generation's

Im the type that learns as she gets older, that a lot of feminist, are spoiling something's, and maybe enlightening others to the likes of me.
But I'm not too much of a feminist really.
There will always be FM, and m. So there will always be differences!
    And that's good!

I am disappointed that western feminists are not doing more to come to the defense of women living in male dominated societies in some of the more troublesome parts of the world. For example, millions have been the victims of female genital mutilation. As immigrants have arrived in Europe they have brought this barbaric practice with them (it's probably in the US as well.) You would think that feminists would be rightfully outraged over this but, apparently, they have largely remained silent. It seems that when conflicting goals arise between "-isms", multiculturalism trumps feminism. Meanwhile some feminists in the west fight for the right of women to go topless in public (which is fine by me, but it's not that important an issue.) And I don't understand this. [IMG]

1st wave feminism = rational, coherent, intelligent
2nd wave feminism = superfluous, redundant, excessive
    3rd wave feminism = diarrhea

This is the best post I've ever seen anywhere.

The reason why third and fourth-wave poser feminists don't fight against oppression by the patriarchy (and instead fight to reform language, like changing "female" to "cisfemale") is because of the incredible idiocy of the modern left wing. Leftists call themselves feminist but they are in fact anti-female (take Hillary Clinton for example). There are very few "feminists" who are not leftists.

Islam is the enemy of humanity. It is an absolutely despicable ideology in every aspect and has no redeeming qualities. True feminists fight against it, but they are few and far between. Most of what calls itself feminism is not feminism, so be careful about generalizing about feminists. A distinction needs to be made between true freedom fighters and posers.

I would be a lot more respective of modern feminism if it was used to combat stuff like Tumbling Dice's post deals with, rather than uplifting already overly-self valued women to the point they are not worth the trouble of dealing with.

I admire Islam, I would suggest you don't know anything about it ....... but you will soon!

But back to your post, almost all non protestant Christian cultures regard women as property.
It isn't just Muslims, it's ALL the non WASP world.
Feminism is a WASP disease, if you ain't white, you are unlikely to catch it.

I guess that's okay if you're not dealing with them. However I have found through my lifetime that if you're dating a woman in a factory setting, you damn well better be liked by the feminists, and mostly perfect if you expect to have a relationship of any kind with her. If they don't approve, it's only a matter of time that she won't either. They are powerful in numbers. And their opinions will be more influential than your love.
In my experience, if she stands up for her man despite their feelings, and they're connected to management, her job may be threatened. Yes, true story.

I feel it's taken on a different meaning now then it did then..Then yes 100%, 110% I support it...now seems like its all over the place on what it means to be a feminist. The fact that alot of woman(ages 30 and up) dont support this new wave or "3rd wave" feminism situation tells me it's been compramised and gone from something positive and working to something much different

A nearby brewery is called 3rd wave brewing. I read where they got the name from their site.
    3rdwavebrewingco.com/about-us/our-history
If you don't click I can tell you that they say it's all surfing related.

Come on now I saw and talked to the owners and employees not pictured. They are stereotypes of the feminist movement.

OK I consider myself a feminist (within reason after all we are different animals so we can never be 100% equal)

I just can't help thinking "who do you think you are fooling sweetheart" anyone with knowledge of feminism knows what you are all about.
It's like blue moon trying to pass off as a microbrewery.

But I guess when you are so close to the Mason line and far from a major city you got to do what's best for your business.

I dont agree with male circumcision but with that said

Circumsized males heal within a few days and go on to lead perfectly normal sex lives in adulthood

Female genital mutilation takes away a woman's ability to be a sexual being. It is an exercise in control.

And fathers who have been circumcised want their sons to be circumcised, so it can't be all that bad!

It has exactly the same purpose and almost exactly the same effect.
Circumcised males can still function as can circumcised females, but the sensation is severely reduced.
