your path is either an expanding spiral towards life or an ever diminishing spiral towards death

Not offended at all, it just doesn't fit this thread.

One can always be psychic in other threads, where it might make more sense to the reader.

I felt the same way when I was a teen. Don't worry too much about what the year is. everything is about ideals, and who you re as a person.

As a matter of fact we've never needed a counter culture more than we do now. Hippies unite! :hitsfan:

Check out the cover of Time, August 8, 1994, third image from the top left, featuring a "hip" version of the painting American Gothic, with the guy sporting goatee and earring and the woman with a tattoo.
    https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=Time+Nagazine+american+gothic+as+hippies&fr=yfp-t&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.timeinc.net%2Ftime%2Fmagazine%2Farchive%2Fcovers%2F1994%2F110194

The cover story is "We're All Hip (And That's Not Cool"). To Time, hipness seems to be mainly about superficial fashions in attire. The concept of "hipness" has always been elusive. Is a hippie defined by hair length, beards, smoking pot, dropping acid, bathlessness, poverty, following the Dead, nonconformity to conventional values, or some combination of the above. Impossible to say. I'd say the last on the list is most important, and that the Cynics of 5th century Greece, as well as Jesus, were righteous hippies. But does the label really matter? Wouldn't a real hippie say No?

I think it's easier than that.

First, "hippie", "hipster", and "hip" are three different things.
    But focusing on "hippie"...

I'd say the main binds of being a "hippie" are empathy/sympathy, a drive for equality/unity, and individual freedom that stops at the tip of your nose.
