I know people talk a lot about conspiracy and the assassination of John F. Kennedy. And mostly they're laughed at. Actually, I have to confess, I find most of the theories implausible myself too. But one thing seems certain: a lot changed after he was assassinated.

Groups that never spoke up before, like gays and hippies and free love advocates, suddenly were thrust into the mainstream.

So if his assassination was just a random accident, why then did so much change after it? It's almost as if it was a catalyst for something, something big. Why?

I hope my question is clear. But if not, feel free to ask me. I will be online for probably a couple more hours today.

I'm not seeing the correlation here...

On the contrary, correlation is a possible connection. The lady who rang for room service just before the Titanic went down saw a correlation. Causation perhaps is what I am really looking for.

And I really do wonder if one does indeed exist. You have one, and the other quickly followed. Surely, in my opinion at least, that may not be coincidence.

Anyways, I could be wrong too. I'd be the first to admit that. I am just wondering if anyone else thinks it's a little odd :) .

Well... are you saying that " gays and hippies and free love advocates" wouldn't have spoken up if JFK hadn't been assassinated? Because I don't see that...

Attribute The Beatles landing in The US, coming down off that airplane, playing Shea Stadium.

    then came the British Invasion.

More likely that the Civil Rights Movement started the other changes rather than linking it to JFK assassination specifically.

Things were going to be unleashed from the American psyche with or without JFK.

IMO, Robert Kennedy was the more important of the two assignations.

Had he not been executed, we may have had a different history unfold in the late sixties and defiantly in the 70's.

Firstly, Robert, probably would have been the President; there would not have been a President Nixon which led to President Ford and onto Carter. I think we can all subject the fact that history without those three in charge, would have been a really good thing.

History would have been completely different and probably for the better.

So what was Robert Kennedy's position on the conflict/war in Vietnam? It seems that war/conflict helped fuel the fire as a social complaint for many.

It's a really long documentary, but it's fucking awesome.

I don't believe JFK was killed by hippies, though, if that's what you're implying. I do believe he was murdered by members of the CIA, the mob, and LBJ, and I don't care who laughs.

I wasn't alive when Kennedy was assassinated so maybe I have no place in this thread, however... I believe he was tragically killed by a very bad man who may or may not have acted alone. I haven't even watched the footage of it (footage usually makes me feel like there's a conspiracy though), but I would guess that it was not staged and is just one of those bad things that happens for no reason. Wasn't he a good president? I seem to remember hearing that about him. Could be just that people feel bad because of what happened and that's why they say he was so good.

JFK's assassination serves itself as a warning to all succeeding presidents who follow after him, to do whatever the CFR and the Bilderberg group tells them to do. Otherwise it's lights-out

I don't laugh. I am on par with LBJ.

This video is very telling especially in regards to Sirhan Sirhan

It is well worth the look. The first half is on JFK and RFK

Because it timed with LSD becoming popular soon around about, as well as other drugs. Drugs changed attitudes and attitudes changed American subculture, which became mainstream in many ways.

I remember my Dad trying to talk to me about the family company going out of business and why. I was too young to ask questions but he said "we knew some people". If someone wanted to drill for oil East of the Mississippi they probably talked to my Grandpa. Just saying

Looking into this subject recently and I believe Oswald was innocent. So much craziness going on in the 60s. There is a video on YouTube without commentary that lays out the newscasts coming out and right after assasination and they change much. The original gun found was a German mouzzer, then changed to the Italian rifle shortly after. Also someone did a study of witnesses that died mysteriously shortly after. The chances of that many dieing was 1 in a billion
