Another of my contemporaries has gone. He was only 69. Gives pause to think of the changes in the world - and mortality. He was out as a bisexual in the early '70s, perhaps giving me courage to be open about my own expanded sexuality at a time when I could put a big poster of his friend and occasional lover Mick Jagger next to my bed with his sensuous lips that I would have loved to kiss. We were all young men then, daring to explore other men. http://www.buzzfeed.com/patricksmith/lgbt-people-reveal-why-bowie-is-so-important?utm_term=.arPLm9KN8#.bnpe2Aya0
My brother was a big fan of his. I knew he'd be upset....I am sad, too.....Matt, wrote these words today in an email to me.....when I asked him about Bowie. "I saw him in concert twice--one of my very first concerts--summer of senior year in high school-- drove out to Syracuse and I saw him a few years ago in Jones Beach. Also saw him a few times in the streets of New York and at an art gallery--very slight and elegant looking man. He is a British Boy but epitomizes a certain part of NYC city for me. Also luv Ashes to Ashes and Modern Love. Bowie was also a great fan of science fiction and was inspired by it-2001 etc." and Modern Love....love Ashes to Ashes, too, of course.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJCBYUKMvMQ
I saw Bowie during his 'Diamond Dogs' tour at the Los Angeles Forum in the 70s. Awesome concert. He will be missed.
RIP Ziggy Stardust and here's the only space rock the US will ever know from that genre by David Bowie himself. http://youtu.be/iYYRH4apXDo

One of the few glam rockers who could actually pull it off and then put on a three piece suit and still pull it off. Creative to say the least. RIP.
