No one can any longer claim video games are a complete waste of time! Now they can have actual medical value.

Very interesting, I think experiments such as these demonstrate the brain's plasticity or ability to make new neural pathways.

This experiment seems like next generation therapy along the lines of VS Ramachandran's "Mirror Box" where patients who had lost a limb and experienced phantom pains in the non-existent limb, were placed in front of a mirror device to give the illusion of having both limbs again. the illusion of having say 2 hands again provided pain relief and pain reduction in those experiments as well.

Playstation magazine had a demo disc in it years ago from Japan where you were a mosquito.

I remember flying between a woman's toes before I landed on her leg and (well you know).

I was trying to not get smashed by her while getting my required amount of blood.

Let me tell you, life as a mosquito is hard, lol.

VR is awesome. Good Idea for use here, I say.

I attribute my hand/eye coordination skills to video games. :)

There was some discussion about the propensity for prosocial videogames to cause positive psychological effects in my Social Psych. text, but it didn't mention this.

It's interesting. Probably helps with PTSD too.
