I have a love/hate affair with smoking. I started very young. Quit as a senior in high school. Picked it up again in college. Quit for 6 years and started again with divorce stress. Been smoking ever since, Marlboro Gold Pack 100s. About 10 a day. Love to quit but it doesn't help that my co-workers (half my age or younger) all smoke. So does my daughter. My GF, a cancer nurse, was going to help me quit but she started smoking, too. She used to bum one off of me now and then but now she is a real smoker. She just can't let then know at her job,

Boo, I only ever had cigarettes while drinking and like one smoke would blow my head off back then. I used to hate waking up with what I called "sock mouth" where like your mouth feels like you had a sock in it all night. I hated the scent of cigarettes. I don't mind them first lit, but the odor of the smoke itself was terrible. One crappy cigarette and people could smell that on me all night. And I didn't like it. I haven't one in a long long time now and happy I grew out of having a social one when out with the friends. I won't even spin my weed with cigarettes. I smoke the stuff green, like a champion. :punk:

    yeah.... I'm not a quitter. :)

I did quit smoking for six months once. I put on sooo much weight that I became diabetic. Started smoking again and the weight fell off and the diabetes went away.

If and/or when herbage is legalized everywhere... I'll probably quit again and switch to that.

I smoked half of a newport 100 when I was 15. Then I never touched another cigarette ever again.. it's been almost 10 years since then and I can't even imagine wanting to smoke a cigarette.

I started smoking when I was 15.Smoked for maybe 15 years, quit for a few years, started smoking again last year, smoked for 11mths,and just quit again.Just over 2 weeks now without a ciggie and I have to say,I feel much better for it.I was never a heavy smoker, usually around 3-4 per day,so recently I started cutting out one cig per day until I got to one per day, then just quit that too.Ive noticed though, the people that smoke at work, actually stink (sorry folks lol)of cig smoke.I found smoking was infringing on my life too much.I'd get to work, have a cig, then break times, have to throw my food and drink down my throat to make sure I had enough time to fit in a smoke, then I'd get home, put the dinner on,head outside for a smoke. Both my parents died of smoking related illness's,which is something that also worries me,if I had of kept smoking.

My idiot step son steals to support his habits and none of them are hard drugs.. He stole my sons Christmas money to buy weed and hot cheetos.

I would LOVE to quit but I don't see how I can. My nerves would get me killed or jailed. I'm nuts without them. I hate the smell, I gag if someone blows smoke in my face but I'll stand outside in freezing temperatures to get that fix. I wish I could just eat chocolate chip cookies. They're cheaper and taste better. I wish I could lose 20 pounds and stop biting my nails too but I don't see that happening. I've smoked, bitten and eaten cookies since I was a kid.

I'm 48, and I was raised with three younger sisters. Our dad died when I was 10, and our mom was a heavy smoker. I started smoking one day when I asked her for a puff of her Winston 100. She liked having someone to smoke with, in our grief. My sisters were younger, and they all eventually started. I became a heavy smoker, and I used to babysit to make extra money. Needless to say, I was not a good babysitter.
It was the 1970s, and things were different then.

I tried a cigarette once when I was in my late teens. Oh my god! Vile.

Question for all who have tried or do smoke:

Did you find your first one as unpleasant as I did or are some people just wired to be able to smoke?

I did every once in a while when I was like 16 or 17. I didn't do it enough to get hooked. But all it took was a stressful holiday season 3 years ago and before I knew it I was smoking a pack and a half a day. I quit a week ago and took up vaping. I feel a lot better already and I'm pretty confident I won't go back to it.

I couldn't go cold turkey. I went almost a whole day without one and I was a raging bitch and I couldn't stop eating. I eat less than most people half my size but I can't take off weight. I can't afford to give up nicotine and gain 30 pounds lol plus I'm just too stressed to give it up completely so I'm going to try weaning slowly down with the vape.

I've always HATED the smell of smokers with an absolute passion. Its not too bad kissing a smoker as long as its not super fresh, as before I was always sceptical because of other people who said its like tasting an ash tray, but its not that bad.
But! Lately, I live in a nice apartment block with balconies/windows, and sometimes when our windows are open I smell whiffs of this extremely nice smoke, its not the new vape type of smoke, its tobacco of some kind. But it smells really nice. Recently I've been contemplating whether to start smoking but you know, its nothing but negatives. That smell though is super nice... wish I knew what brand/type it is just to try it out.

  18. you're a lucky one. the more crack I smoke the more crack I want. that's why I can't smoke it, i won't stop till I'm flat broke, and then I'm scouring the streets & alleys for another $20.

i do smoke cigarettes. camel & american spirit turquoise preferably
i doubt that i'll ever quit. i enjoy it. it's a healthy habit.

Yeah, I smoke and hate it. Tried Chantix until I wanted to kill myself. Nasty stuff.
