    Hi all,

I'm new here so just have a Question that need some input from experienced Men and Women.

My wife and me have been married for 8 years and have 3 great children. I'm in my late 30's and she is in her younger 30's. We love our sex life and love when we can finish with me cumming inside her, turns us on so much and I can keep going for at least one more orgasm. When she was on the pill we would not use condoms, but I would pull out (at her request) just to be safe because she never fully trusted the pill.

The problem lies in that my wife hates the side affects of taking the pill (low sex drive and weight gain) and I agree with her. She is wild and horny when not on the pill, love the last three times we were trying to get pregnant. We would go for hours each night, wow that was the best sex of our lives. We both do not want anymore kids and we both agree on not getting her tubes tied. We have done research on both IUD's the ones with medication and the copper one. Also looked at me getting a Vasectomy. We want to enjoy the feeling of me cumming inside her and not worrying about her getting pregnant.

Can ya'll share your stories of IUD or vasectomy and how it went for you and your partner? The side affects and the final out come.

Thanks in advance for your replies

im terrified of vasectomys cause i have this memory burned in my brain of my dad in pain for a couple days afterwards from his.

I m only 21, but i kind of want one, i dont want kids, and i dont like condoms, but getting the deed done is a whole nother thing

With those two options, I'd say let dad get snipped. It's far more reliable, doesn't have the chance of pelvic infections, ectopic pregnancy, is done once (copper coil at her age is at least two if not three for her reproductive life, and swapping is so very much not fun-several days of discomfory and pain each time).

That said, I've a hormonal IUD and it's been fine.

I saw a segment on the PBS newshour that (iirc) the current copper-wire-on-fliexible-plastic IUD's don't have the complications of older IUD's, can cost as little as $500, and can last for 20 years.

Likely you dont want more kids becuase of financial constraints, or becuase they are a friggin nightmare when they are little

But you say planting your seed inside her is the most exciting thing for both of you

Sound to me like if you take that risk away...for ever ever eva... then sex may just end up feeling like playing poker without betting any money....especially for her

Get a vasectomy and she'll probably end up banging a guy where that risk of getting pregnant is still there

Its funny isnt it, you still dont really know your wife

Minus the know-it-all cynicism, VG has a point

Minus the know-it-all cynicism, this is what is left. And in this part VG has a point.

Part of the excitement for her (and maybe for you) is that you are not firing blanks.

Vasectomy....you'll be fine, the pecker will still work. Side effects...you will be sore for a day or two....outcome... No more babies.

So VG is saying that the risk and underlining thrill will be lost with shooting blanks inside my wife so she will cheat on me for that thrill.

1- So tell me women if your SO could not knock you up(and you don't want anymore kids). Have you, or would you look for that risk with having sex with another man or men?

2- Or would that set up worry free sex with your SO and increase that amount ya'll do have sex?

I have a very healthy sexual appetite and when off BC so does my wife. I honestly don't think my wife would cheat on me, but you can never underestimate what love ones do to each other.

I would advise against the vasectomy if reversible birth control methods are safe and effective.

The issue is really reversibility itself.

I have gone through a full IUD and its been expired for two years. I just let it run out because my boyfriend at the time had a vesectomy and I had the IUD before I met him.
Really no side effects to the IUD, except it took away my period. There were a few times to where my boyfriend would hit it and he would feel the IUD poke him but it didn't hurt me or anything and was just a little uncomfortable for him. I have heard stories of the IUD falling out and stuff but I think that bad stuff actually happening is more rare. They also have a 5-year IUD and a i believe its 10-year.

I would advise against the vasectomy because it is more permanant. Also, the IUD is extremely effective and the vasectomy can come undone on its own. My ex had to go get his vasectomy done again because one time he went in for a test to be sure that its all good, and it was not. So..... you never know!

Not that I think the OP is still around, but after three kids, permanent options are quite logical.

I think that people as young as 21 should be allowed permanent options, albeit with some counseling.

I currently have an IUD, Mirena, and haven't had many side effects. To get it placed was really quick and I only felt pain for about a day or two (Ibprofen did the trick, though!). I haven't had any weight gain or moodiness. It did say that your period might stop after a few weeks, but mine just shortened to a couple days a month. Sorry if that's TMI, but something your wife may consider.

My wife and I decided to both get fixed. A vasectomy for me and tubes tied for her. We've been very happy about that decision.

Vasectomy is your friend, if you don't want children.
Yes it does hurt for up to a week. Good excuse to take a week off work (seriously) and drink, or if you're lucky a scrip for some fun tablets. Along with weed, it won't be so bad.

The week of pain is well worth being able to "let it fly" freely, It's satisfying for both.

As long as your gal doesn't mind waddling to the restroom afterwards with a towel between her legs. lol

I am 32 and have 2 kids. I had a vasectomy, it was so easy, it took less than 30 minutes. It did not hurt, it was just uncomfortable. My boys were really sore for about 4-7 days but after that it was fine. I would recommend it to anyone who is positive they don't want any more kids. Its great to have sex and not worry about getting my wife pregnant.

Vasectomy can be quite dangerous and can damage your ability to have an erection in your later years.
There are many different types of pill for her to try, get her to change until she finds one with lass side effects.

Consider the worst case scenario, your wife divorces you, then won't allow you access to your children. And you can't have any more with a new wife.
It happens to nearly 25% of married men.

My former wife tried to persuade me to have a vasectomy while she was secretly planning to divorce me. Thank god I didn't agree!
