So, now that most everyone has upgraded to Windows 10, what are your thoughts on it?

And if you had or still have Windows 8, what do you think in contrast to earlier operating systems?

Personally, I'm sticking with WIndows 7. Unless it provides some sort of limitation to RAM or processor usage once I get around to building my own rig.

I went from 7 to 10 and had it crash on me, had to reinstall all my programs including 10 but didn't lose any data. Other than that I don't notice any difference.

tired of the little icons on the right corner popping up. Try Office , Try Mcaffe, Try shutting the thing off and cant!!!!
suffered one crash because the avg anti virus wanted to shut down and restart and I said NO!!! took 4hours for the windows to be reinstalled.
hate all the advertising crap on the start , I dont needs no netflix app, or amazon app or fakebook app, priceline or any of that junk.

I tried ten for a couple of weeks but went back to Win 7
10 looks great at first but offers nothing in real terms as an improvement its also BOSSY if an operating system can be described that way :policeman:

I keep getting the Windows 10 update prompt to upgrade for free lol !!

Windows 8.1 runs very smoothly indeed, doesn't crash and runs super fast to, it's certainly on par with Windows 7.

I stopped using AVG free, everyone seems to think Defender is just as good?

The only pop up I get is when I load Fallout 3 and it tells me it's not compatible...but it works.
AVG was always popping up. Also HP photo something was always bothering me for updates and storage and shit. It came with my last printer before my Cannon that I bought cause it only cost $10.00 more than the ink for the HP and it has Bluetooth, ink, and a FAX I don't use. I had to uninstall the HP program to stop the pop ups.

I would suggest Avast free instead of Windows defender.

I don't use any dedicated anti-virus programs. Only CCleaner, Cleanup v4.5.2, and IObit products. I haven't dealt with a legitimate virus since like... 2006? I feel anti-virus programs are unneccessary and haven't yet run into any problems without one. Then again, I don't visit shady websites and my web browser prevents me from visiting questionable sites. I do plenty of downloading, even some that have been reported as 'badware'? But those are usually just from ancient websites :D

Not a big fan of 8 and not in a rush to try 10. I'm running 8 on my laptop and Vista on my desktop, no significant problems. Does 10 bring back the Start button? Don't like that about 8.

I think the main thing to see about windows 8 and 10 is the start menu. Windows 8 did not really feature a start menu. It tried something new. I sort of liked and appreciated that. Despite having liked 8 I have moved on to 10 and I don't think I like it as much.

Here's a pic of the desktop.
Those blue icons on the right in the black box on the left do something, but I just ignore them.
The entire black window only shows up when you left click on the little white window down on the left beside the "Ask me anything deal", which I disabled. You can alter the size and content somehow, but who cares?
The start button I guess is now the power button. I usually just right click on the lower left window icon and get the drop down that has the task manager, control panel, and stuff like that.

I still use shortcuts on my desktop and in that black bar on the bottom thingy.

That shit would drive me fucking nuts.

All of these "upgrades" seem to be mainly about shoving the corporate probe further up your ass rather than offering users any real improvement.

The thing that pisses me off even more is the fact that they typically try to pretend that it's not about making money, instead it's something like, "We're offering products and services that you may enjoy as part of out commitment to delivering the best consumer experience possible".
