I am planning to build a pool that is using the eco-friendly cleaning of the water, does somebody have experience with that? what are the advantages and inconvenients of that kind of pool?
I understand that we need to build 2 pools, one half size of the main pool, with inside a certain number of plants that will eat the bacterias of the first water pool, a filtering system is installed between both, and a pump to enable the water to circulate between the pools..
What are these plants able to eat the bacterias?
    Thank you for your answers!!

    Algae...

At least that's what's used in similar aquarium setups.

Mother Earth News Magazine did a whole spread on this..

"Sedges (Carex) and rushes (Scirpus), both aquatic plants, make great emergent vegetation for your pool's perimeter. You can also consider lesser cattails (Typha angustifolia) and aquatic irises, though be sure to ask which varieties won't overcrowd other plants. Pickerel weed (Pontederia cordata), arrowhead (Sagittaria) and water primroses (Ludwigia) are all contenders for the shallowest areas of your pool. Be sure to include submergent plants such as common waterweed (Elodea) and hornwort (Ceratophyllum) for their high oxygen output."

Of course you'll still need an aerator and pump to circulate the water. Those things can be pricey.
