I don't know if everything in that video is a legitimate concern, but Windows 10 does reek of desperate measures. Microsoft is loosing it, profits are way down, google will soon surpass them, and Apple has far exceeded them for a couple years now. Fablets and tablets are in big-time, PC's just aren't as important to people as they were 10 years ago. We know Google and Apple are spying and data mining the piss out of us and most of us don't give a rats ass. Maybe people expect Apple to be overly controlling and Google to mine everything because that's how it's always been, a limited controlled experience. Sorry Microsoft but that's not what I've come to expect from a Windows OS. They saw what Apple was doing and tried to copy it, and failed every time. Windows has been trying to snip away user control since vista. It looks like Windows XP was the last decent Windows OS that ever was or will be. Welcome to the future of PC; limited, controlling, advertisement and data mining oriented, subject to change without notice, zombie consumer experience.

 

Look at windows 10 user agrement carefully, there is suposedly something that microsoft has admited to in there that some find alarming. I have heard that there is a way where there upper management employies can get direct acces to your personal files. It was claimed that its right in the user agreement somewhere. I personally dont use microsoft products myself. Many people say if you dont do anything wrong you have nothing to worry about, I find this statement rather alarming though, there in my opinion is too much abuse of power now days, to me its the principle of the matter, I believe in everyones right too privacy.

 

Yes, it pretty much says they own your machine and you data. The passage below seems to suggest that Windows 10 has a keylogger built right into the OS itself ... a relatively trivial thing to implement so why not? More features are better, especially if it helps to improve the consumer...ahem, i mean user experience.

It would be interesting if someone would analyze the network traffic with a tool like wireshark and put the results online after the microsoft has been caught red handed calling home with keystroke logs. I do wonder exactly how they plan to manage this as it seems it would be relatively trivial for someone to do this, and thus tarnishing the repytation of the product? Possibly by sending data encrypted? To me, random cyphertext being sent to microsoft would be a red flag in itself, but there would always be an excuse about what it was; you know, just the usual stuff operating systems call home with, not your keystrokes or files, and encryption makes sense here to protect your privacy ... as ironic as that may be LOL. And if worst came to worst, they can just tell us that we should've RTFM'd before we clicked on "I agree".

People accept the status quo, which is that this type of thing is acceptable for software companies to engage in. The out of control marketing/advertising culture doesnt help and only contributes to this mentality.

 

This is why I will never use microsoft windows or any of there products.

 

Microsoft better get their shit together if they want to spy on me. I have this crappy netbook that I hardly ever use so I'd figured I try to update it out of pure morbid curiosity. I enabled updates, I always have them disabled on all my PC's but this netbook is so slow updates absolutely cripple this to a completely unusable state. So literally 18 hours later, it's done installing updates and reboots. I wanted to see if the little windows 10 update icon was there but guess what, one of the updates replaced my wifi driver with a broken one so no internet. Now I have to fix what they broke so I can continue letting them screw this thing over with Win 10. When I ever get around to it.

Got 10 five days after it was released & Outlook was fucked completely!! A search on Google revealed that 10 had a bug on release that stopped Outlook from sending/receiving messages, I had to get hubby to do something with a command prompt (don't ask me what!) to run some stuff that DID eventually fix the problem, but FFS why wasn't this sorted BEFORE release!!

 

I have also had problems with my WiFi. All I have to do is click the little network icon and essentially restart the wifi (turn it off, then back on) and it goes back into high gear.

 

I dont have a PC anymore but as far as mobile devices I have a windows phone and I like it much better than android and apple. It still works perfectly after a couple of years, compared to android and I phones which from my experience glitch the fuck out within a year. I have an android tablet and it has been glitchy since the first day I bought it, I dont really see what all the fuss is about with android.

you can also turn off (supposedly) all those tracking and marketing features, they just hide the options layers deep so it takes some effort to go through them all.
