dmv....we take a number...just never go before a holiday....always always go the day after a holiday...be polite....we even have a priority pass they give you if you forgot paperwork or bank card or whatever so you don't have to wait in line twice

longest I ever waited was last month getting my kids i.d. replaced[same office also does health cards]....we waited 40 minutes.....that was the day before a long weekend....I was given the priority pass to come bak Monday morning but didn't need it because was the only one in the office.....she told me to keep the pass for my next visit lol

The postal service is far worse. But the Atlanta DMV is a sight to behold. A study in the merging of both inefficiency AND not giving a flying fuck about anything except the next time they can take a break.

Is this a place where you get your license and such because I just recently had to renew my license and it was really quick.

internet first. they're telling everyone to in my state. thank political 'conservatives' for under-staffing anything that involves serving the public in any way.
don't blame the poor overworked bastards who have to work under those conditions to earn a living.

the people who want economic feudalism, well that's the kind of situation it puts everyone in.
besides, if peasants and lords alike, had their heads in a more logical place, we'd have lots of little trains and wouldn't need for there to be a 'dmv'.

Last time I went to one-(Hanford, Cal), there were 7,485 Mexican folks in a line that stretched for MILES! And 4000 inside!

Guess you have to get there about 2:AM to beat the crowds.

(And no, exaggeration is not actionable)

makes a lot of difference which office in what town you go to. they're still all understaffed though.
and all because for government to earn its keep would be called socialism, and we're all supposed to believe that's automatically some kind of a terrible thing.

There are a lot of services now available online through our DMV. I did my sticker that way and it was great. Also basic changes of information can be done that way and they simply mail you the new one.

    I like that. :)

Without more context I can only imagine you're calling a group of Hispanic people Mexicans. Probably less than half of them are actually from Mexico, especially if there were really 11,485 of them.

I guess I'm lucky as I usually have no issues at the DMV, gotta wait sure, but whatever, that's what appointments and doing stuff online is for.

One time I went to renew my registration for the car, some hippy looking guy helped me and I paid cash. (this was before they completely updated their systems).

I go over to the window to get my registration and tags and when i get them I notice it's for two years, not one like I paid.
Then I notice the amount and it says paid by credit card...?????????

That guy was most likely pocketing cash transactions and then giving people extra registration time so they don't say anything... I know I didn't, I just enjoyed a year of free registration. :D

kinda like when I worked for Sav-On and heard about an assistant manager who volunteered to work all closing shifts over a 3-day weekend.
When Tuesday morning came around and the armored car arrived to pick up deposits, the safe was virtually empty. That guy pocketed every deposit over the weekend and by the time they figured out what he did, his apt. was empty and he was in the wind with around $40-$50 grand in cash.
