    Hi out there!
I have a question - does maybe anybody know any kind of prices or awards or scholarships, all that belings to that field, for sustainable projects that come up - I am searching a little bit round, as friends of mine have something very nice to start, not yet done, and I ever keep telling them, also start to search things that maybe support you in some kind of way ....
Just it interested me, so if anybody knows - write!

Heya! I know one, not sure it is exactly what you are looking for, but it's called the Schweighofer Prize. That one is in forestry, so depending on what type of sustainability your friends are doing - very vast topic indeed, anything is called sustainable nowadays, it's lost a bit of of its initial meaning. Here is what they say about themselves: The Schweighofer Prize is donated by the Austrian Schweighofer family, who has been engaged in the European woodworking industry for generations. Since 2003 the award is presented every second year, and is endowed with a total prize money of € 300,000. The Schweighofer Prize awards innovative ideas, technologies, products and services in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the European Forest Based Sector. All natural persons or groups of individuals as well as organisations are eligible to participate. The applicants have to fulfil all conditions in form and content. The most important requirement is the obvious benefit for the European Forest Based Sector.
It's a good sum if you ask me!

Wow, thank you so much for your effort, I was not suspecting an answer at all after that long time! Well, sounds quite interesting, I will have a look. On which level are the prized projects, like high-end?

Oh well I just assumed prizes since tallend said "awards" too :p Wouldn't make much sense otherwise.
This particular prize (Schweighofer prize) is more of a high-end prize if I got your question right - what I mean is that anyone can apply, but from what I've seen the projects that win are pretty neat, elaborate and already quite advanced - it's not just a pseudo prize thing if you know what I mean. Those people know what they're talking about. Hope that answers your question :)

Thanx to all who tried to help me, yes I also wanted to know about prizes, awardships, etc. all that leads to a better end, so to speak. And yeah open projects are searched for, I mean that should be the point, but do those projects have to be an a very high quality end?
And fritzdacat - also thank your for your link, I will have also a closer look on that!

Glad we were of any help. Yeah I thought that that was what you meant, otherwise my advice would not have been of much use. The prize I mentioned definitely only accepts high quality projects (though it really depends what you mean by high quality). I mean that its projects are very advances and thought through , i.e. the people who apply are specialists in the field, not amateurs. So you gotta know what you're talking about if you're gonna apply there.

Wellsaid, yes I know what to talk about or write. Of course, I just ment it must not be a realzied project, it can also come from a more papersided field, that means when you are in need of money realzing it, can be one way to apply there as I saw they also award different sums. Thanks so much for this advice again.

Sorry that confused me a little, but yes since it is a sort of fund I think the project does not have to be in its final stages if that makes sense. But just the idea is not enough, you have to prove the project is doable as with any scientific funding.
