The battery in my LG is starting to deplete too quickly

Instead of going to all the trouble of finding a battery for it

I'm just going to buy a new phone

A samsung S6 edge, a gold one, this may sound like spam, but its the first phone I've seen in years that gave me a woody when I first saw it

    Hello,

sure I can ;). I bought the phone at the end of the last century from a captain working at Ramstein air base. At that time you still bought communications equipment from US military personal without thinking much about it ;).

    Regards
    Gyro

I just cannot imagine spending 500 or more on a dang cell phone. Some people will buy one that expensive before they eat...or feed their kids... I mean, really?

I have seen women in the store with small kids, using food stamps but have that expensive phone!

It was about 4000 for my.desktop which took up half the bedroom in the mid 90s, which adjusted for inflation would be roughly 6000 now.

A thousand dollar phone compared to that is a bargain, and it has a processor thats about 4 times faster, and you can do a lot more with it

1800 is i think about as much as i've ever paid for any one anything. that was the second highest powered laptop they had at fry's at the time i bought it new.

of course, adjusted for inflation, the boat and one or two of the trucks might come out to more then that in dollars now, but at the time, they were less.

my 3d printer (still have, just never fixed when it stopped working) i think i spent 1600 for that.

but an effing phone? to each their own i guess. personally i'd rather not need one at all.

of course the kind of phone you're talking about, is more like a computer in you pocket, that just happens to also be a phone.

i guess different people have uses for different things.

what i have, i know why i bothered, but still wish i hadn't. and i still don't have one that works anyway.

How do you like it otherwise? I'm in the market for an upgrade and am caught in the midst of the iphone6 vs. samsung s6.

Currently leaning towards the iPhone, seems more solid all around, but the s6 excels in a few areas.

but that comparison is all backwards. Computer tech has gone down considerably in price. Every time a new processor is released, it automatically devalues all the previous ones. That is one reason Intel kinda slowed down on how fast they release new chips to the market. Release the latest and greatest before current stock levels are lowered and you simply cut your own bottom line profits.

it is by virtue of the better technology at lower costs that make it possible for you to have a $600 dollar phone and not a $6000 dollar one.
can you imagine what it would have cost if you could have bought a phone that could rival that $4000 desktop back then?
It would have been a helluva lot more $4000.

and a machine comparable in category placement to what you paid $4000 for in the 90's could be had for a few hundred to about one thousand bucks today.

how long does it normally take for a smartphone battery to shit the bed? mine suddenly stopped holding a charge a few days ago. it stopped draining when i cleared the cache on all my apps, but it made me start to think about battery life cycles anyway.

The new ones with quad core processors are set up so that it hardly ever uses all cores as it drain batteries too quickly. Unless you force it too

More about how you use it rather than how many apps

Watch videos all the time on it. The battery will die quicker a phone full of garbage text based apps

It is all part of the "get you back in to buy a new one" scam

Just like why they bring a "new and improved" one out every 6 months or just when they know the bulk of contracts run out and people will look to renew a contract with a new phone, when the one you have is perfectly fine. Those sad folks waiting in line for days to purchase a new phone all the while Candy crushing away on the one they are so quick to rid themselves of, I'll have it thank you.

I bought my computer in 2007. it has only had a Hard Drive upgrade in that time. Sure it is old and on its last leg, but I cannot see purchasing a new one until this has totally died.

At my sons school, i have seen little kids with no winter jacket, freezing, no lunch BUT with the latest Nike's, a Bulls hat and an iphone. Yes it is sad and these same folks are complaining about no money.

Man those used to be indestructible and considering it is still "alive" haha maybe Apple can take a look back at old battery technology and save Vanilla Gorilla $600 the next time

My friend who loves Apple gadgets is always upgrading his phone. So, last year he gave me an I phone4. I just recently broke it and traded it in on a refurbished Iphone for $62. Suits me fine :) I don't use it to go on internet...just a phone and camera.
