Hello guys, My name is Joeru i'm new here. Even though I should posting this on some hairless help or self esteem forum, I find that this forum is the only place I can find people who can really relate to me and my thoughts on this "unwelcomed" cosmetic change.
So where should I begin... Well, growing up I always was into styling my hair. You see, my hair was really unique, i'm half Asian Half white so I inherited the Asian texture,"think the kid from Big Hero 6", I could style it however I wanted, even Dragon Ball Z styles, and considering my Asian dad wasnt balding when I was growing up, or thinning at the age I am, Im 26, and my moms dad has amazing hair, I thought Balding was you know one of those things that I wouldn't have to deal with.

Well Fuck, life dosnt turn out the way you thought it would does it, and that theory that you inherit your moms dads hair is BS. My hair started thinning badly at 23 to the point where its become noticeable at 26. So one day I was like Fuck it Im gonna shave it all off!! Soooo I did.... People liked it, my headshape is normal, and I pulled off the look, but the problem is... Well, I dont FREAKING LIKE THE LOOK or the connotations my Shallow fucked up mind associates with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean honestly people perceive you different when your bald and not in a good way in my opinion... For starters people will often think your some sort of tough guy, and that really bothers me because I'm physically fit and I don't want to be associated with that image. I'm a very music/counter culture oriented kinda guy who likes to rock the fuck out, I play bass and like Psychedelic rock, Shoe Gaze, Punk, grunge, Garage Rock, and some metal. The whole bald tough guy image dosn't sit well with me and reminds me of the conformist douchers, or wunnabe gangsters who I went to high-school with who also happened to be on the football team I was in when my dad forced me to go into so I could be more "american".
And what really annoys me when people say hey its not that bad look at Jason Stathom, or Bruce willis or the Rock, no offense to those guys but they are all action heroes who are very very stoic and not people I can relate to at all. I mean, there's Billy Corgan but his music got shitty after he went bald, and of course, there's Lars whos a total douche. I mean honestly after shaving my head one of my coworkers said I looked like a cholo.... Wtf I mean honestly, He said that in a good way but I dont wunna be mistaken for one as a race/ethnic that im definitely not, and two a damn gangster rapper doucher. Even the women that I attract are different and totally not my type now.... Im not gonna get into that though.

Judging by the rate my hair is thinning ill be bald by 32 which sucks alot...... I mean I miss being the rocker kid or the Anime cosplay look alike who could headbang... I mean Im blessed in that I can pull of the look but I don't like scaring people.... Looks like im gonna have to wear hats all the time.... Anyone Else relate?

Btw ive tried some of the treatments for balding and they have way to many bad side effects, so no to hormone altering, sex drive destroying, heart palpitation inducing drugs for me.

wigs are completely lane unless you are going through chemotherapy and need one

everyone laughs at wigs and if they don't,....they should.....

don't really have a suggestion here except maybe wear a hat more....become the beret guy...or the stingy brim guy....

whatever you do, don't get the mike Tyson face tattoo to deflect from the balding....it works but comes with consequences

    good luck brother

Don't let it stop you from doing anything. I know a guy with (possibly) the same sort of musical taste and style who went bald early on. He was really good looking and used to have really good hair too so I'm sure that was a blow but aside from shaving his head and wearing a hat he hasn't really changed his style. He almost always wears the same sort of hat that Alex from the Addicts wears (A Clockwork Orange drogg type hat). Just try out different hats at home to see which ones you can pull off.

Since my hair started thinning at age 16 and I became really depressed about it for several years, about 1-2 years ago I just started to accept reality because it's really not worth it to let it get to you. I still look in the mirror and go "oh well" but I don't stand in front of the mirror for several minutes and lie in my bed with loads of anxiety afterwards.

I'm not bald but my hair is thin like this

I'll probably reach George Costanza baldness in max 10 years. But I'm an eccentric kinda guy so I offset my thinning hair with having a rat tail, and yes I'll keep that rat tail even when I shave my head.

My advice is to just accept your genetics and offset them with awesome fashion, and like someone else already said, try wearing a hat or beanie, it might suit you, personally I look really good in some hats.
