http://web.archive.org/web/20070317164304/http://www.videotiger.com/vids/aerosmith_babyplease.wmv Kinda blows although I thought they went to crap in the 80s anyway as most bands did! (They were BEST in the 70s (Thier first 5 records are insanely good))
I like Aerosmith a fair amount, I've seen them live and when I started getting fairly decent at guitar this is a song I would jam to with my buddy. I would play the main riff and rhythm... http://youtu.be/uQAsvzeO_00
I've always thought Aerosmith was overrated. I saw them from the beginning, growing up in Massachusetts where they originated. Even saw them at a free concert at UMass back in 1974. I was amazed at the way the band became a nationwide sensation, I thought they were mediocre at best.
I'm not a huge fan of aerosmith, but one of my best friends growing up was, so i heard a lot. This is one of a few tracks i kinda of dug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkXntbXnx7k
they were decent when they first started out. nothing special, but not bad. then they just wouldn't fucking stop, and they put out so much unbelievably horrendous garbage that they averaged themselves out to be one of the worst bands ever.
That's an interesting way to look at it, I don't really view music in that way. I think a band can become bad but I don't think that necessarily has any bearing on their earlier work.. I feel Aerosmith had 2 quality eras in their career, their 70's stuff and then their late 80's/early 90's stuff. They even had success after that but I felt they lost some grit and basically became a pop rock band. Intuitively I feel like I wouldn't put them up there with Zeppelin, The Who and the legendary rock bands but then I start thinking of their catalogue and they got quite a few Gems. So I wonder if not viewing them in the same light is that they came slightly after those bands and maybe even that they are American. Because I'm coming up with this mock Greatest hits off the top of my head, I think it'd compare favorably to the vast majority of Rock Bands and I'm probably missing a few songs: Sweet Emotion Walk this way Dream on Mama Kin Back in the Saddle Same old Song and Dance Kings and Queens Draw the Line Last Child Train Kept a Rolling Rag Doll Love in an Elevator Crying Janies Got a Gun Deuces are Wild Living on the Edge (Dude) looks like a lady
^ yeah, i still appreciate their decent early work. and i don't typically rate bands that way myself either. aerosmith is unique though, in that i feel like they turned so far bad that i have to lower their overall rating accordingly, and their early decency doesn't make up for what they've done since. there's a few songs on your greatest hits list that i also dislike, so obviously i'm not as big a fan of their earlier work as many people are either.
Yes...I like Aerosmith... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMNgbISmF4I&list=PL7-vofk1_3UOaVLLbZd5fIA3CqcUKcPVr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54BCLYNkFKg
My high school friends and I use to listen to so much Aerosmith! They are part of my life story. I mean, look at the way I spell my name. Ha! I've never even noticed that before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3DyPfXxqs8
