Where my other flex peeps at? Anyone up to discuss? Swap recipes? Share experiences with walking the line between veg and omni?
And where are the hardcores to tell me I'm fullashit? ;)

Definition for those new to the concept: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flexitarianism

I'm not gonna lie, I had some chicken drumsticks for lunch, but I'm going to be rocking some awesome vegan recipes this week courtesy of a new cookbook. I LOVE cooking veg, and trying and making my own meat alternatives is so much fun! I thoroughly respect people who go full-veg, especially for ethical reasons. Hats off. You're so hardcore. I'm wishy-washy myself, though, and it's led to some weird combinations like oven-roasted tofu marinated in oyster sauce... Felt weird about that one...

Generally my philosophy is every little bit helps, and I am at least doing something to help the planet and the animals by reducing consumption even though I haven't been able to eliminate it from my diet.

Disclaimer: if this has offended anyone or TPTB decide this is not the place for this, feel free to do what you must. I just didn't see a discussion about this topic yet and thought I would shine some light.

I lost my taste for beef about 15 years ago; or as I call it "big meat". I don't eat steaks, or roast, but sometimes a little ground beef tastes pretty good.

I haven't eaten pork chops in a long while either but some ham, sausage, or bacon is good every so often.

I did eat a lot more chicken than I eat now...

I just lost my taste for the "big meat", lol

I respect anyone making strides to minimize cruelty in their lives. To me, going veg was entirely effortless, but I wonder, firefly: what do you find most difficult about ditching meat entirely? I don't mean to presume, but I think I remember you saying that you were a bit financially strapped. It might behoove you financially to kick the meat :).

I've never heard that term before. I think I must be one of those. I have no meat in my home, hate to cook it...but will eat it when I go out or someone else cooks for me. So, I may eat meat once or twice a week. I like it...just don't like to cook much anymore.

Maybe I'm an accidental flexitarian. Or just lazy...:)

Going without meat so much, I believe, makes it more difficult for my body to digest when I do eat it.

I notice a slight heaviness in my gut generally the day after I eat meat, I can tell the difference.

    Bounced this to health.
Don't discuss meat in vegetarian, please. Because a flexitarian is an omnivore. One who eats plants and animals.

Funny, just heard this term today! After approx 2 years of no meat at all, I have recently gone back to eating a small amount of free range organic meat. Reasoning was mainly due to moving in with my partner who is a meat eater and would have struggled with a purely veggie diet. I'm happy with just veggies personally but don't mind the occasional meat now. :) I guess for many it depends on where your ethics lie. For me, it was more about hating factory farming than hating eating meat itself.
