How about it..... do you mow the grass barefoot? They preach so much about safety while mowing, but with all the safety features on mowers any more does it really matter? And, unless you are going to wear steel toe safety shoes, your feet/toes aren't really that much safer anyway. My wife always says something to me when she sees me mowing barefoot, but I don't think I'm really endangering myself any more than if I was wearing sneakers like she does.

    So, do you mow barefoot?

My brother lost two toes while mowing. Just don't pull the mower.

I tried it once, 2 years ago. Ended up with VERY green feet, when the mowed grass bled color on 'em.

Freshly cut grass stains the feet really well and it's hard to get off. I leave them green and let it wear off lol

I have a question...about the green and dirty feet. Are your floors at home always dirty? How about bedding? I'm just curious. Don't get me wrong, I go barefoot a good bit, but wash my feet when I come inside. I prefer to not wear shoes in the house anyway.

I don't normally get itchy from mowing.
As far as the green stain.... I don't worry about it too much. At the end of the day, I wash my feet with Fast Orange hand cleaner & scrub them well with a wash cloth or scrub brush. Whatever stain is left doesn't transfer to the bed sheets.

i've never really had my own lawn to mow. i mowed barefoot at my parents' house, but that was a riding mower so i don't think it's really the same issue (although when the cover is off the top of the mower deck, there is a legitimate concern about touching moving belts).

when i worked for the parks, i mowed in sandals. they eventually told me i had to wear shoes, so i did. i left for about 8 years and came back, and at that point they required long pants and work boots. so that's what i wore to mow last time i did it. this was all still riding mowers; i really have very little experience with push mowers.

I've mowed a substantial amount. Jeans with no holes and high-top steel-toes is the only way to go.

I care about my feet. Mowers are quite dangerous even with all the proper clothes, why would you tempt fate?

As a teenager, remember doing it at least once, felt unsafe so I put my shoes and socks back on.
