    phishing also occurs via phone calls, as social engineering over the phone. sometimes they may have to try several times, getting a small peice of information from you each time that they can use in the next attacks until they finally have enough information to do some major harm.

    if your worried, its always best to contact the bank/company/etc directly. if they contact you you cant be sure ... the caller id could be spoofed or the email headers spoofed .. dont trust the contact information they give either, it could be fake. for banks and such financial institutions you should be connected HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate ... if they dont have a valid certificate then it might not be the real bank website.

    General rule...never click on any link concerning any finiancial accounts within the body of an email.
    Go to the site as you usually do and login that way to take care of whatever.
