How effective is Nexplanon? My girlfriend was using the pill for about two years but she would constantly forget to take it and when I found the packet later she would go oh shit and take a pill… With that being said she has been on Nexplanon for a couple months now and she has only had one period, is that normal? Or should I be more concerned and use a condom?

She is also looking at using ST. John's Wort. I found an interesting article that says the ST. John's Wort can cause a reduced effectiveness in implants and increase that chance of pregnancies. Should I be more concerned?

With all that here is some background:

We have unprotected sex about once a day it balances out for those boring and exciting days. When she was on the pill her periods were unbearable and she had them on the same time every month. With Nexplanon they are very random and much lighter.

Any insight would be helpful.

Having little to no periods is common on the Nexplanon. Sometimes it's possible to go for months without any and then suddenly become frequent but irregular again (which happened to me). I wouldn't recommend St John's Wort for the reasons you said, however, evening primrose may be an option that's just as good.

You shoulnt worry too much. I have the nexplanon now and have unprotected sex all the time. Previously before this nexplanon I had the implanon for 5 years.which is the exact same thing only name changed. It worked perfectly. I rarely had a period and I never got pregnant. Just relax and try enjoy each other without worry! Besides if shes on the nexplanon and does get pregnant then it was ment to be. Plain and simple.

Plain and simple was "meant to be"????????
Uh...no. As in hell no.
"meant to be" pregnancy is a pregnancy that is planned and wanted...WITH THE ABILITY TO FINANCIALLY and MENTALLY raise the child. As well as in a stage in your life where the child is properly cared for and prioritized.
