This has been going on for a few days and I surprised that no one has mentioned it yet.

    This deserves a spotlight.

They don't believe it does? I don't believe that for one second.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/30/indiana-anti-gay-law_n_6969286.html

The article continues. Indiana behaving ignorantly as though it was not attempting to set the country back to the 1950's.

I suspect that everyone sees the "restoration" movement as legalization of discrimination, but some won't say so in public.

I don't believe them for one second, either.

It's all over the news from other states.

It's political-speak... Quite often words are left out to confuse the issues. What they really mean is

"Shocked That The Law Is Viewed As SPECIFICALLY Anti-Gay"

It's going to be used as anti other things as well. The use, or misuse of these laws is going to be huge. Just wait...

It surprises me that the republicans are even doing this. Do they not realize this will most certainly assure that a republican is not voted into office during the next presidential election? Not that it really matters who is in the White House, but I would still prefer a democrat to a republican every time.

Just in case people don't click the link, I thought this was worth reposting:

On the other hand, maybe the backlash will make them finally shut up and keep their ugliness and hate to themselves.

I wonder what Sarah Palin thinks of all of this? She used to be so vocal (in a winking sort of way). My aunt (in Indiana) still adores her. I think it's high time that SP made a comeback. Where the hell did she go? Russia? I think not. Even though she seemed to think it was within walking distance. Sarah, come back, come back! Not.

Big difference between these laws now being passed by Republican dominated states.

The big difference is Clinton's bill ONLY APPLIED TO INDIVIDUALS, not BUSINESSES.

This new bill once again elevates BUSINESS to the status of PERSON, letting Business choose who they do business with as some kind of God Given Religious right, which it clearly isn't.

So it is VERY different from Clintons bill and all attempts to paint it otherwise are lies.

It will be religion itself that tears it down, they are only crafting it for their religion

Get a few muslim clerics in their neighbour talking about their right to enforce sharia law

Then it will be oh, wait, hang on a minute

And on the flip side, if GLBT actually gave a shit wouldnt be too hard to set up their own church, use the same tactics. This is what we say God said, this is now our religion, we have the right to be free to express our religion.

But that doesnt happen cos most of them dont give a shif. On one side its mainly the do-gooders speaking on our behalf on the other side its a handful of bumpkin senators who grew up on farm dont really know any different.

Minorities with Minorities determining policy, getting too much attention

Some guy freaking out about a gay girl wearing a tux to a prom is more about having his machismo- threatened, pissed about her stealing some guys woman, or sexism- girls are supposed to stay in their place.....than it ever has to do with supposed homophobia

No, it gives them the opportunity to state their case in court. In no way does it give them the right to violate existing federal or civil rights laws. Any and all attempts to paint it otherwise are lies.

I see what you're saying, but what it boils down to is individuals being forced to violate their own religious beliefs under the guise of "it's a business". If a business owner doesn't believe in gay marriage and believe's it's a sin (I'm not arguing that it is as I have no problem with gay marriage) he shouldn't be forced to participate in violation of his own beliefs. His own First Amendment rights are being violated.

I admit it's a tricky subject but it shouldn't be a one way street. Both parties rights need to be considered. Under the Indiana bill both sides get to make their case.

It's being manipulated and taken out of context on a grand scale. It reminds me of the the whole Chick-fil-A nonsense. Chick-fil-A denies service to no one, hires gay employees, and provides benefits to employees in same-sex relationships but the country went batshit crazy simply because the owner said he personally didn't believe in gay marriage. Much ado about nothing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, did the exact same thing not happen with black people seeking equal rights?

    Guess what?

Those on the "wrong side" of history ended up appearing ignorant, much like most theist appear anyway because they want everything their way as though this world is a veritable Burger King rather than a rational world.

As a business, it has NO FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS... A business is NOT a person and does not have a religion.

Anyone wishing to conduct business in the PUBLIC MARKET, must follow the laws of business, including discrimination laws.

Any business can deny ANYONE service, but NOT because they are part of a minority.

They could deny service simply because they don't like them. Remember the sign "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"?

That right still exists, but it cannot be based upon race or sex.

Any business that refuses to serve gay people or black people in any capacity shouldn't be in business in the US of A.

What conservatives refuse to acknowledge is that EVERYONE pays taxes that support business, even if they're gay or black.

That tax money supports essential services that every business needs, including roads and infrastructure.

So that means if you're going to do biz in the US, you must be inclusive, not exclusive of minorities because without them you wouldn't be in business.
