Imagine If Guys Wore Make-Up

ok ive seen some actors with the eye shadow and it looks great on camera, but i dont think it would look as good in real-life.

also, i think if guy make up went mainstream, i dont think guys would be putting it on their face. i think guys would put some shadow under their biceps and pecs lol. maybe use eye-liner to trace out their abs!!!!!

 

a lot of guys, or maybe even most that appear on tv wear some sort of makeup, its just not obvious like the makeup wome wear.mthis is because people look worse on TV, its a real effect. in real life you dont notice it but on TV it makes you look shittier especially high definition.

 

some do. actors especially. not the kind of clown makeup some women do of course. but everyone in that profession is older then they're made to look. really you can take that as a given. i'm not saying there are no children or adolescents, but most who are made up to look adolescent are almost invariably well into their 20s. the exceptions are so much rarer then anyone imagines. maybe one in a hundred if not one in a thousand.

not just actors, but pretty much anyone who entertains in public for a living. well other then buskers. and you can't always be sure even about them.

the object of GOOD makeup, is to not look like its makeup at all. if its obvious, its wearer is either ignorant, or more often, rather blatantly looking for 'something'.

and i was just referring to live performance. television, and other recorded media, the lights and the cameras, that adds a whole nother dimension to be compensated for.

 

There was a bit of a fashion back in the 80's with a lot of pop groups where men were wearing make-up.

Never had much appeal for me.

when I was in my early twenties the emo look was still popular for some ungodly reason. I would see a few guys out wearing make up in bars. It was annoying - the emo look, not necessarily the make up.

 

yea i was super high while i posted this. but actually my friend was putting on makeup and i was telling her that makeup is lie. i really dont know why girls where make up i actually think its kinda ridiculous because ive never seen a girl wear make up successfully. meaning, she was wearing makeup and i couldn't tell. i think its cuz im a guy, but painting your face just seems like such a crazy concept, as if your gonna fool society lol. so i thought, imagine if guys went through such ridiculous lengths to try to look good.

 

I have imagined this seriously because I used to think the make up on girls and how consistently most of them wear it is just as absurd as if men would do it. The only thing that makes it not absurd is because it is the consensus that it is normal or even better for a woman to wear at least some make up in public.

Actually, it seems that most of society is succesfully 'fooled' or better said subject of/influenced by it. There are also a lot of men that perceive subtilely applied make up as natural or as if they're not wearing any make up at all. So, not sure why you think they're not gonna fool society or a large part of society.

 

Make up is pretty absurd. I wear it on occasion but for me its like playing dress up - I do it when I want to have fun and look a little nicer than usual. I dont have time to wear it every day.
Plus I'm pretty confident about my face. I think a lot of women who wear it every day do so out of insecurity.


I also think the fact that women shave their legs is absurd, but I still do it like a good little slave to cultural norms.

 

It depends why you do it I guess. I also am not as neurotic about make up or shaved arms and legs etc. etc. as I may sound some times on here I would not mind at all if my girl shaved her legs and I can even appreciate it (I have become the same about make up). Well, that's not that hard because the look and feel is easy to like It is if she would feel like a conformist and do it for a reason like 'I don't wanna be perceived as a hairy monster' by either guys or their fellow women (I understand they can be at least as demanding/convicting as guys in these regards) that would make it unfavorable.

but yea girls are pretty without make up. now that its spring break season at the beach i see girls coming from all around wearing mad makeup and jewelry, thats not beach wear!

 

actually, not being able to tell, IS wearing it successfully. i know that may sound strange, but altering your appearance without it being obvious or even visible that you have IS THE WHOLE POINT.

there are exceptions to this of course, and the point is well taken that MOST people, especially in their 20s and younger, LOOK BETTER WITHOUT IT.

(but not in front of a camera. the guys in porno mags are wearing just as much makeup as the girls. NO ONE's skin is THAT smooth without it. no one. honest. not if they're old enough to pose nude legally, that's for dam sure)

 

I was just talking about this with a friend. Most men say don't wear make-up, but most men don't know when women have make-up on. I don't prefer wearing make-up...it's a love/hate relationship though. I used to wear it because I was under the impression I had to. Then I would wear it when performing/auditioning. When I stopped doing that I was so happy to never wear make-up or remove hair...all of that upkeep was easy to do without. Now I have to wear it again. I will admit that since I've started wearing it again I've become more self-conscious about my face and appearance...so I play with make-up and not wearing make-up and taking pictures of myself to see what I actually look like, since I do the same thing with my students. I definitely see the purpose of it for performing, but it is assumed that wearing make-up is also "professional" in a lot of circles. As long as they can't tell you're not wearing make-up it's fine, but it was something I thought I could get away with and it turns out sometimes I can and sometimes I can't.

As for men wearing make-up, I don't have a problem with it. I don't know if I would date a guy who wears make-up just for fun, but I wouldn't judge someone for wearing it if it makes them happy.

 

I just did interviews with tons of girls on their appearance, asking them if they had make-up on. When you do this and you guess right every time, then you tell me you can't be fooled.

 

Isn't it a joy to see how people can develop during their lifes True, they can develop in any way (some ways seem not as agreeable ) but I dig the diversity a lot. For instance, if everybody would have thought the same as me I maybe would never got a more pragmatic/practical outlook on (people with) make up.

 

I didn't realize a cosmetic was labeled for male or female use only. Much like clothing. How can a piece of clothing decide who should wear it. Why would anyone care who wears make up and who doesn't. I don't feel like wearing make up means someone is insecure at all. I wear makeup every day but I have no problem not wearing it. I'm not one of those "I wont leave the house without it" kind of people. One of my best friends who would be labeled male by the rest of the world wears eyeliner every day. If people would worry more about themselves than judging others for their lifestyle the world would be a better place.
