    Remember when..
Cereal boxes actually had tangible prizes in them? Remember anything cool you got? Let's see... I fondly remember color changing spoons from Trix cereal...

they don't do that anymore? i haven't eaten cereal in years, and i was never really a fan of any of the cereals that had to bribe you with toys to get you to eat it. but i assumed it was still going on.

My brother would dig his hand in the cereal to get the prize.

I remember having to eat the cereal first before getting whatever prize was in the box... No digging allowed. Naturally the toy would be at the bottom of the box. I don't remember what any of the toys were though.

This is emotional for me to recall...

When I was about 7, I got a molded plastic Winnie The Pooh out of a box of cereal. I loved that little bear!

I had to change to a new school that I felt very alone and scared in so Mom let me take the little bear to school with me.

At recess, I was standing on the playground clinching the little bear in my hand, all alone. Suddenly, a neighborhood dog ran up the hill to the playground and came to see me! I was so happy to have a friend that I put the little bear under the dogs collar to give it a ride...

The damn dog ran down the hill with my precious little bear on it's collar! He ran down the street and never came back with my bear.

    I cried and cried.

    It left a scar.

I'm going to buy a replacement bear for myself.

Crcker jacks boxes used to have prizes, too. I wonder if when they first started, they were real bronze tiny things and stuff like that...
Now, you have to get kids happy meals at McDonald's to get prizes. a neighbor kid I once had used to go to all of the MacDonald's in a 30 mile radius to try to get the full sets of prize things.....

This reminds me. I don't remember if I got in a box 'o cereal or sent off for it, but I had an Atom Bomb ring. An actual ring to wear. Wish I still had it. Late 40s, I think.

had one of those several times when i was little. cornflakes or whatever it was they came in. that was like wow, almost 60 years ago i remember playing with that in the bathtub.

i remember the little plastic magic decoder rings, and there a little reeses puffs stock car,
i think i've got two of them. made in china, 2008 tcb, mfd for gmi it says on the bottom.
oh and it says cheerios on the back.

so i guess they still make those things and do that. i don't usually get the stuff with sugar in it. i really don't like the taste of most of them.
i prefer to put my own chocklet and coffee and get the large bags of generic kinds, when i can find the unsugared ones.
