Store Installs Homeless Spikes

A business or a store called Selfridges in the United Kingdom has installed spikes on the sidewalk to prevent homeless persons from sleeping in front of their place. The article is on Russia Today

 

What will they do about the Hindus who are down on their luck?

 

we have those here too..mostly on ledges to stop the bums from sitting there all day bothering the working people for cash while they walk by

also a lot of window ledges have spikes to keep the pigeons away....they work pretty good

 

I used to have a wall going around the yard front the house. people thought it was a sitting stone. fixed that shit real quick with a layer of cement and pointy stones. I hate skateboards too and my walk is rumble stripped...

 

I'd like to build a moat and draw bridge around my place. Not to keep anyone specific out, but like, all people out. And I'll build a fortification a big tall one from stone and sling shot people.

it is messed up white people that are usually the homeless where I live......don't see a lot of east indian families camped out in front of stores.....or Africans for that matter.....no....might be different in London or new York...I dunno

 

But by the grace of God...they aren't homeless themselves. I find that sad...

 

Unless you have evidence that white people are less compassionate than other racial groups, don't bring race into this.

I'm not in principle against using spikes to keep people from sleeping on the streets, so long as the homeless have a better option available to them.

Just trying to get the homeless out of site is sweeping the problem under the rug.

 

Well, I'm old and have lived decades during less compassionate behavior by white persons. I can think of more comapssionate folks, like the Navajo, like th Bahai, like the Sufi, and like the Nepalese. I don't want to argue; however, I don't want to take orders from you. I can place my opinion on these pages without your consent. Race might not be an issue for you. It is an issue for me, because I remember the white-black drinking fountains and toilets during the 1950s and 60s. I am a man who has been denied the use of a restroom by white business owners, when they allowed the white hitchhiker with me to use it.

That's not nice. However, people of all races do some fucked-up shit. I don't see any evidence that white people have a greater inherent tendancy to do fucked up shit than other races.

 

I see the white race being taken to task for bad things they have done. I never see them congratulated for introspection and repairs. No other race is held to this standard, which makes the argument racist from the get go.

 

Anyway, the store is in his right to install whatever it wants.
In today's western society, there is no reason for anyone to be homeless!!
Get off drugs & alcohol, teen pregnancies w.h.y, finish your education, get a job , keep your noses clean.

 

Advocating personal responsibility will get you nowhere fast. If you can't be a victim what good is life?

It would take several days to list all the compasionate and non-compassionate things any racial group has done. Maybe there is some morally superior racial group, but I don't see any evidence of it.

 

Just put a board on top of the spikes and then lay on the board

 

Except in perhaps a few rare cases, everyone has some degree of personal responsibility for what happens to them. There are also overwhelming events that are largely beyond the control of an individual.

How about abused kids who run away, are they to blame for being homeless?

How about people with physical and mental illness, I guess they've got no excuses?

I read a story about a retired army ranger and his wife. So the military fucked up his paper work and he couldn't get his retirement checks. Couldn't pay his mortgage, so he lost his house. Ended up living in a tent under a bridge until he finally got his check straightened out. But he's got no excuses right?

I'd like to see you change your tune on this, but I hope you don't have to go through something severe for that to happen. Do you really think that there is no way that enough misforute could come your way that you couldn't be homeless too?
