I have read plenty of information about the pill and I think I have a pretty good understanding of everything. However, I am going to ask a potentially stupid question. The effectiveness is referring to if 100 women were taking the pill for a year(?), one of the women will get pregnant, that means the guy's letting loose inside her, right?
I'm just trying to be clear on my understanding. I like to be a tad more cautious, so I'm on the pill, take it when I'm supposed to, but still have my partner pull out.
Also, removing the risk of STDs, I should be okay if he lets loose inside? I want to let him, it's a pretty nice thought, perhaps I could do so close to my period?

Pulling out is 0% effective as birth control. If a woman takes the pill correctly, and it is strong enough hormones for her, the chance of her getting pregnant is almost nil.

If you are having sex with your partner without a condom, the risk of STD's is there already. So...pulling out does absolutely nothing to prevent pregnancy or STD's.

Kudos on using birth control, but until you are in a 100% monogamous relationship for a period of time....not using condoms is a very bad idea for your health.

Like to play Russian Roulette do ya?

I've been in a monogamous relationship for a bit over two years, now.
I know pulling out is not going to prevent any kind of STDs. I was just asking if we were to disregard the risk of STDs (because every time anybody ever tries to ask a question regarding birth control, people have to bring up how it isn't going to protect you from STDs, and I am already well aware of this) if not using a condom while I was on the pill would be okay. I am strictly asking about the pregnancy risk, not the STD risk.

The pregnancy risk will not be there if you are using the birth control pill exactly the way it has prescribed by the doctor. There are various other contraceptives available such as plan b , ovral g, loette etc.

Okay, I just want to know, plain and simple, if in the studies they did for the pill, the guys were not wearing condoms and they would cum inside the chicks.

Plan B would be a pretty expensive way to go about it! I do take the pill correctly, mind you it can be an hour earlier or later. However, it's just getting old having to have him pull out and dirty the sheets or whatever, not to mention the fact that him finishing inside feels so much more intimate.

I think you should not even worry about it, you take the pill right in and in a relationship....No reason for him to pull out.

The only thing that is 100% effective is crossing your legs and keeping them locked.

You can get pregnant on the pill (I did) and sometimes the morning after pill or Plan B doesn't work either.

    Even condoms break.

Life is a risk. How much are you willing to take?

Age plays a big factor in my worries.:) I'm young, quite young. I just don't really want to reveal my age as I've seen the bashers and the jokesters on here, I don't want to give myself reason to become one of their poor victims.
So I think for now, I will keep my risk factor pretty low. I'll pay close attention to my pill taking, and if I've been pretty spot on, he may get lucky.:) Pulling out + the pill for the majority!

Taking the pill the way it's supposed to should keep you in the clear. However, you have to watch what kind of pill you take and for how long. For example, me and a girl I work with were on the pill for years (4-6 years) and now I don't get my period regularly, I don't even know if I'm fertile. The girl I work with is married and actively trying to get pregnant, and has yet to conceive 2 years after STOPPING the pill. Honestly, with all that in mind I would actually just stick to condoms. Yeah they break SOMETIMES (I've never had it happen) but it's extremely difficult to do, since a regular sized condom can stretch over your arm up to your shoulder.

So that's just my advice, whatever you choose is up to you, but I have not had a good experience with any other form of birth control.

Coffinspire....I highly doubt you are infertile. PLEASE do not think that, so dangerous. Go to your Gynecologist and get and exam. Not having your period at all is not normal, but does not mean you can't get pregnant.

Anyone on the pill needs a check up yearly...actually any woman that is having sex needs a yearly check up of her lady parts.

What's dangerous about it? I go to my gyno they can't find anything wrong with me. I get my period, just a couple times a year. Actually, now you have to be 21 to get a yearly exam, before that I guess your good somehow. My doctor told me that when you turn 21 it's mandatory.

I think they're saying it's dangerous because they think you're not concerned about getting pregnant at all and aren't practising safe sex, lol.
    Condoms just really freaking suck.

I'm a little shocked here. I cannot imagine any Doctor telling any female that is sexually active that she does not need yearly checkups. If you are taking birth control pills, your Dr should be doing a yearly exam before prescribing them, a scrip is only good for a year. How are you getting a prescription without an examination????

You're "good" somehow until you turn 21? Like your body sends a signal? Good lord....

BTW...very good on the condoms, you have that right.

My doctor told me 18 is now when it's mandatory for checkups, sexually active or not.

OP, I don't think pulling out is really necessary when you are on the pill. Especially if a man is young, he might not pull out correctly, and you can still get pregnant from precum, if he has it.

The pill, if used correctly, is one of the most effective types of birth control. I know you're young, but don't worry, as long as you take it at the same time every day, it is extremely unlikely that you will get pregnant. Just enjoy the ride and know that you are protected :).

I agree! Perhaps it may be surprising, but I am only 16, so the worry will always be there! However, my mother could be understanding, and I'm not against abortion if a mishap occurred. But I'd still like to avoid that! If I take my pill late by mistake, I make him pull out for the next couple weeks. He's surprisingly extremely good at pulling out!

Pieceofmyheart, what do you mean? All I know is that if you're under 18 where I am, and you go to get your BC prescription renewed, they don't give you any kind of exam. You could ask for one I guess.

I misunderstood. When you said mandatory....you meant to get the pill, right?

I just cannot imagine Drs telling young women they don't need exam when they are sexually active. Blows my mind.
