Gee, you folks have obviously never been to Southern California (LA/Hollywood). It's a town built on illusions and hype. Everybody lies there. It's completely natural and expected. If you're not lying, you're not getting anywhere...
The press is definitely not looking out for their own. CNN's coverage of the controversy is like sharks in a feeding frenzy. I hope they realize that this is going to bring more scrutiny on all of them. The public is going to become more skeptical and cynical than ever. Media stars had better be ready. This is a good thing. That shit doesn't always fly in New York. Especially in the internet era.
Thanx for all that info Karen J. Sounds pathological at this point, like some form of Munchausen syndrome. Brian apparently craves to be a part of the story that he finds a way to interject himself, getting personal attention. Despite all the conspiracy theories about fabricated news (from ppl who are always sending me Web links to sites with clearly biased agendas) one has to trust at least an aggregate of sources. I check newspaper sources on the Web and watch the evening news, usually CBS but others when that network whores out to some sport event in that timeslot. I grew up watching Walter Cronkite and he had a rep for trustworhiness. You have to trust sometimes becaise where are you to get news of what is happening in the world? It would be nice to think that all journalists were ethical and honest because that is so necessary in reporting but from the yellow journalism of Hearst newspapers to Faux News, it apparently is not a requirement. However, once a journalist is caught in a lie it's all over. You can never go back to that position of implied trust again. You can (and all of us do) interpret from events in a story but you JUST DO NOT FABRICATE THE FACTS IN A STORY.
You have to realize the agenda behind this "outing" of Brian Williams. Brian Williams is the LAST of the LIBERAL network news anchors. They want to get rid of him before the next election, obviously. Remember Keith Olbermann? Gone! Relegated to doing sports again. Many other liberals in the news media have either faded or been forced out for one reason or another. Even Glenn Beck (that nut!) was considered too much of loose gun to have around during election time, so he's gone too. Again, realize this all has to do with the upcoming election for president. America is going to be INUNDATED with Right Wing propaganda for the next 20 months or so. So get ready! Finding a liberal view on TV is going to get harder and harder. It's going to be like it was after 9/11. Get ready for the flags to start waving and the drumbeat of war to get ever louder! FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! is the media agenda for the next 20 months...(just like we had b4 the last election - Ebola, ISIS, etc. Expect a new crisis every week)
Yeah Skip all about getting liberals off the air, not that he was lying through his teeth. Get real buddy.
next election, I hear you, Skip....line em up, brain wash the masses...get rid of anyone who can think for themselvess....and the only savior for it all will be another Bush to continue that regime. pathetic.....andeven more pathetic....many people cannot think for themselves.....
and who doesn't really? but why concentrate on him so much? It is a diversion as Skip pointed out, too....to keep our minds off more important things....and yes, I fear there will be alot of those too..... Brian is not running for office that i know of.... and if Ihe lied, yes, i am disappolinted in him, too, but do not hate him.
Definitely something pathological going on, because Brian Williams lies about things that don't really matter much to most people. Why risk a career over something small? Of course, every detail of every story matters to somebody, so he was taking some huge risks. People like you and me would have paid close attention to details like the high water mark during Katrina, because we know the town well enough to know that if flood waters ever reach all the way to the Hotel Monteleone (NBC's favorite FQ hangout) or the Ritz, New Orleans is finished. No reason for visitors to come back. The National Guard general in charge has pointed out that Brian's dead body report amounts to a confession of another ethical lapse, if that body ever existed. There is no claim that he ever attempted to report the sighting to the authorities, even though the temporary police headquarters was only three blocks away, at Harrah's Casino. How would he know from a distance that the person wasn't just unconscious, in need of immediate medical attention? Brian doesn't seems to think through these details before he opens his mouth. Investigators are now uncovering stuff going all the way back to the time before he started out in journalism. He once claimed to have rescued a puppy from a house or apartment. Later, it became two puppies. I guess he thought that two would be twice as good as one. One winter when he was working at a Christmas tree lot, he said he was robbed at gunpoint. Other people who worked there said there was no robbery. Insiders claim that Tom Brokaw, who never had the authority to fire Brian, chewed his ass several times about lying, and told him it was just a matter of time until he got caught. Tom is now reportedly lobbying hard to get Brian booted. Fox has no standards. Rupert Murdock cares about nothing but money. You know he's gay, right? The rumor mill is saying that Matt Lauer is being considered for the anchor job. I hope that isn't true. That would make NBC look totally racist, and then they would have to find replacements for Matt and for Lester Holt, who would surely quit and go elsewhere. Jay Leno has warned us about the brain-dead people running NBC, so anything's possible.
Uh, if I'm not mistaken, Brian is a STONER. And if you can't forgive a stoner for memory lapses, who can you forgive?
Yes, Iknow that.....but I love him anyway...to me he has integrity and he is so cute.....I am not wanting to have sex with him.....
Anderson is the best in his time slot. I saw him in person once. He looked exactly the same as he does on TV. I've always liked Brian Williams, and I've been watching him at 6:30 ever since Tom Brokaw retired. I was a loyal Peter Jennings fan until he died. As if this week's TV news hasn't sucked enough already, Jon Stewart announced that he's leaving his show at the end of the year. Fuck. :bigcry:
oh, no! I adore Jon Stewart, too...He looks like my grandpa did....and he is awesome.....I will cry with you......
