Apparently it's no longer polically correct to celebrate Holidays with religious affiliation. Displaying Christian paraphernalia this time of year has become more offensive than racism, sex, and obscene violence. Saying merry Christmas to a non-Christian will get you a one-way ticket to a sensitivity training camp.

Heck, every Christian preacher I ever talked to even said it's highly unlikely their lord Jesus Christ was even born on December 25th. They say it's most likely he was born in mid springtime. The Early Christians hijacked an ancient holiday this time of year and called it their own. So hey, we might as well rename it.

So, we need to come up with a new name for this holiday that won't offend liberals, Jews, Muslims, agnostics, sun worshipers, Jehovah's witnesses, or anybody of all walks of life.

    Any suggestions?

christmass is itself a renaming, so that's really not a problem. it doesn't need a name, besides the winter solstice (on the 21st) which is simply a natural thing that happens anyway. any day to have an extra day off, is a good day to do so. celebrating the idea of peace on midwinter's eve is fine with me. make/combine it with the first day of the next year is fine too. although one of the equanoxes, spring or fall, might be better for that.

winter solstice makes sense as a day to celebrate having made it half way through winter, by breaking winter rationing of one day. a day or a week to cheer up the otherwise bleak season winter would have been in primative times. still being careful of course, to leave enough in the pantry to make to spring.

whatever ritual mumbo jumbo people want to put with it is a matter of personal taste, when they're not trying to force theirs on everyone else.

(i would also suggest we stop blaming 'god' for christianity. whatever god or gods there might be, may very well have had nothing to do with it.)

Yeah it's kinda funny. I accidentally hit the like button on the iPhone, and for some reason you can't undo a liked post on an iPhone.

I am not in the least bit religious, but clearly the powers that be want to do away with any mention of "God" or anything pertaining to Christianity in the public domain. It's just another way of diluting the culture in preparation for the New World Order (which many here will claim is just a conspiracy theory). Not that I really care at this point, but it's at least good to be aware of what they're doing.

I remember when the public school children would sing "Away in the Manger". They ended that not to long ago .. and see how violence in schools followed. fa la la la allah la la..

If you know that someone is against being wished a merry Christmas, then it would be rude to say that.

If you think someone might want to be wished a merry Christmas, then go ahead and say it. I wouldn't have a problem with other people wishing me a happy whatever day that they celebrate, even if I don't celebrate it myself.

Yup, and will usher in their global, new age religion in its place. It will combine earth worship with total allegience to the global government.

pretty much everywhere else in the world.
if christians honestly loved god, they would have no reason to hate every religion that isn't christianity.
