OK, so let me just start off saying I royally fucked up! I have really bad back issues, I'm not going to go into detail exactly what my issues are because it honestly doesn't matter. But about a year ago i was referred to a PM specialist my an orthopedic doctor. I was receiving flexeril 10mg and 90 oxycodone hcl 10mg a month. My doctor was amazing, and like any doctor she did random pee tests (which where sent to a lab). The problem though was that my tolerance is way too high, but i could not tell her that because as far as she was concerned this was my first time taking opiates. So i would run out extremely fast. And when i would run out, i would be in pain and take anything i can to make it go away. Well my first pee test (a few months later) there was morphine in my system. She threatened to cut me off, but instead made me sign a contract. Kept my dosage the same, even though i have told her many times that i would run out. Almost a year down the road my new boss at my server job (which if you experience back issues know this is one of the worst jobs to have) saw me have a back spasm and called me into his office. Turns out his sister is a back doctor who is against prescribing narcotic. He asked me about my back and what i do to manage the pain. Stupid me decides to be honest with him and tell him, i go to physical therapy, and take pain medication. As soon as i said that, it was like 20 questions. What are you taking, what mg, how long, how often, ect. ect. And i answered honestly. Big mistake. He told me he wanted me to go see his sister (who was in another state btw) and he wanted to call my doctor and tell her he thinks i am on entirely too high of a dosage. Of course my doctor couldnt talk to him personally, but that doesnt stop her from listening to the message he left her. So my appointment comes up, and around that time my phone was cut off. Apparently she had called me in for a pill count, but i never got the message (even if i did, i would have been fucked). Well she piss tests me. And i have morphine in my system. FUCK! Well, i get cut off. FUCK! Fast forward to now. I make an appointment with some bullshit spine place and they tell me they cant help me, but refers me to another pain doctor. My appointment is coming up soon. My question is, what should i tell this new doctor? Should i not tell him that i had a pain doctor before and hope and pray he gives me around the same medicine? Should i be honest and leave out a few details? Oh, and another thing, i had actually applied to this doctor before and had my medical records faxed to him, and the refused to take me on as a new patient. But luckily he accepted me this time, but doesnt know im the same person (i doubt he remembers though, i never personally saw him or talked with him). The fuck should i do? I cant handle this pain anymore! Im actually out of work because of this pain. This is such torture! And i dont know if this makes a difference, but this all takes place in the state of MD, and i am 23 years old. someone please help. my appointment is coming up in less than 2 weeks.

I mention this often, but I recommend acupuncture for a lot of conditions, and especially back pain. Often not covered by insurance though. If you can find a student clinic, you can often get treatments for $30 or under.

A qi gong/ yoga practice might help.

Don't be ridiculous ...somebody who is severely addicted to opiates just wants to punch people that tell them to go for acupuncture…

0P-yes you did royally fuck up… But they are doing you a favor because you're just going to be dead if you keep it up… I was cut off years ago I know exactly what it's like all I can do now is smoke copious copious copious amounts of weed

I'm wondering about the ethics of what your boss did, especially considering that he was trying to send patients his sisters way. And I'm wondering why, after seeing you have a back spasm that he, a layman, would come to the conclusion that you were on too high a dosage. And why your doctor would listen to him? If this new pain clinic has your records, how would they "forget" and assume you're a different person? This is all very confusing. Anyway, when you go in, don't bring up all this bullshit. Just concentrate on your medical condition and tell them the truth. Emphasise your pain and how it's impacting your life. That's the best advice I could give.

He at first was just trying to help, but was apparently against narcotic medication and believed that the amount I was taking was too much. Which is bullshit.

It just sounded like he was trying to drum up business for his sister, and calling your doctor didn't seem like a very ethical move.
