On a personal level, I don't really see much of a difference I suppose. They both speak to people in a way which could be meaningful or could be nonsense.
must you be so negative? (OP) perhaps say: there are things i enjoy more than abstract art, and religion and the main difference between religion and abstract art, is that one asserts itself as a real (so they claim), serious thing that involves your personal life and ideas and the other is to be pondered on, and elicit an emotional response(or lack-thereof)
