Alright i got a few questions since i royally fucked up the last time i did this. So I need a stainless steel pot, bring to a point where its just barely boiling and leave on for 4-7 hours (was wondering about this since ive read a lot of different times on various threads), and one thread showed throwing the whole cacti in the pot but i just need the dark green outer skin right with the spines coming out of it right?

thanks so much for all those that reply so i can have successful tea this time.

I don't know what you "need", since I'm not advising, you, but any alkaloids are in the dark cortex between the skin and the lighter central core, not in the skin itself.

The meaty dark green fleshy part under the outside thin skin layer is what you primarily need. You can discard the core, trim the spikes and remove the skin. It's up to you if you want to leave the lighter green area, which makes up the rest of the cacti. Some say there are alkaloids present there, others say there is not or at least not mescaline.

How hot is "boil"? I would worry about the Mescaline breaking down. I would just do an extraction and not bother with tea.

an extraction sounds complicated from what i remember reading and requires chemicals i'm not sure id be able to get my hands on seeing as how i don't have a car at the moment and i cant ask my mom for ride to get something like that.

It's more work but you could also cut the dark green meat layer away from the outer skin and lighter colored inner fat, cut the dark green section up to tiny pieces and lay it out in a pyrex dish or two with a fan on it for a few days. Then consume it, chasing with juice.

I've found this method harsher on the stomach but you don't have to be concerned about losing alkaloids.

i was quite disappointed to open up package and find most of the pieces looking like this. So is it still usable or should it just be trashed?

    Good for what, consumption?

The one on the right is the only that doesn't look ready to transplant. I'd especially plant the top section, everything to the left looks healthy.

Even the one on the right might recover, if nurtured right.

If you're asking if they're usable for your "tea" or whatever, what kind of helpless question is that? I refuse to answer, on the grounds that you need to grow a brain before you can use drugs on said brain.

I'd at least try on a planting. The small bit of chlorophyll gives me hope for it.

yeah, it's got a reasonable chance, they're tough as fuck. And the other ones look great.
