I hate the dear, diary crap & I don't think I'm much of a poet. But I need some serious meditation as my life is a disgusting depressing mess right now. What should I write in this thick, beautiful, but blank journal of mine??

Whatever you feel or want to write......hard to tell anyone what to write.....
What made you choose your avatar? Who is that? Iknow I know her, but cannot think of which actress she is at the moment.

    It is your journey.

Journal and journey are two closely related words.

Are you going to rescue yourself from a disgusting depressing mess? Will you proscribe or heal yourself? Will you explore and be adventurous? Will you create .. express your dreams, hopes and wishes? Will it be an excursion of forensic science, establishing the facts of your life? Will it be a memoir? Who will you speak to and what will you speak of?

    Good luck.

Perhaps that of what I dream, the lands in the distance. But woe my heart is heavy, I cannot see that which I would like.... But a blank journal filled with beauty, I write.

You answered your own question, write about that. You can't reflect upon what you're not engaging, write the big mess down.

Ideally you start writing when you have a subject or interest. Not that it can be done in reverse (have the urge to write about something but don't know what yet), but it is much easier imo.

Hi, again. I meant the avatar you had of the movie star. Was that Mae West.....?
or was that you dressed up as that era film star?
I liked it. It was a nice old feel Hollywood glamor photo.
Your new avatar of you is verry pretty.

Oh moonglow...sorry. A second person messaged me saying "why are you grabbing pictures of girls online and posting them?"...I got really frustrated. My original avatar, I am guessing, shit I can't remember her name. Clark Gable's wife. She died in a plane crash during the war. I think that might be her but idk for sure. She was beautiful whoever she was. I like vintage things alot. And thank you for the compliments ; )

("...one of those big hugs first..." went the goblin who regretted having not come across this post before, but then adding "...naah, I'm rather old and my advice would only make you old like me I guess, where instead of my foolishly suggesting anything here, just continue as you have begun where I will do what I really good at here, which is listening abatedly...", in fact, the goblin knew that one's journey to self started with any post on any forum, and from that post to another one, and another after that too, till finally one saw oneself by joining up the dots of one's together as a reflection perhaps, whereupon the goblin just smiled, saying "...keep it honest, but no personal details please, for only the anonymous can be honest with themselves, me I find myself being a honest goblin indeed...", well if ever there was an honest goblin he meant)

I have never really kept a journal in the traditional sense, but while traveling I carry a composition book and write in it each day of the new impression of the trip, things that impact on my mind and sometimes take a few pages for an essay or creative writing. I now have a collection of 8 composition books from that first trip with my gandson in 2004. A lot of the highlights I have transcribed put on forum boards, Webpages or in Word documents - so my handwritten journals are not so much an end but a tool.

IDK if ppl who write diaries are compelled to write something every day or if they skip until there is someting inspiring or noteworthy. I would make the occasional entry. Whatever you do, put the date on each entry. Later it will perhaps serve as a history of your life.
