I Think I'm Becoming An Adult Or Something...

I was feeling really tired and I glanced at a clock to check the time. Jeez, it's only 7 pm, but it feels like 10 pm to me. I think I must be becoming an adult. =p

What are some signs that you're becoming an adult/getting old?

 

Pain...

 

I worry if I'm not going to get 8 hours of sleep on a given night...

 

I choose high fiber cereal over good tasting cereal.

I realized I wasn't really getting anything special.. so it just didn't mean all that much. Then I realized that that was it, that was xmas done now.. nothing to look forward to other than that family lunch.

 

Nah, man... that ones just a state of mind. I get so super excited like a kid about stuff like that and I'm mad old.

as for the original post... yea, that is so me. But that's been me for a while.

Sigh... becoming an adult... hmmmm... for me it has been being more in control of emotions, less impulsive, more rational, and more willing to take long term pay outs over short term happiness or pleasure. Blah blah... aka, becoming boring.

 

Xmas is much more fun again when you make your own traditions also. Like... we created this really wacky xmas breakfast thing years ago.

 

Becoming an adult? I don't understand the question... I guess I'm still waiting for that to happen.

 

I listen to npr news instead of music every morning on the drive to work.

Not caring that the cuffs on my pants aren't ironed flat to perfection. Dress to impress. I always think of the elderly, how their socks & shoes are ridiculous .. but they don't care.

The priorities of youth and livelihood ..

i thought older people needed less sleep. there is some truth to this though, i used to need 10 hours of sleep a night, but i could pretty easily throw in one night of 3 or 4 hours, and still get by. now i only need 8-9 hours a night, but if i don't get it i'm pretty much useless for the next few days.

in that case i've been an adult for as long as i can remember. my earliest christmas memories are of my dad trying to wake me up early and me yelling at him to leave me alone and let me go back to sleep.

 

I've gone from being a lifelong bachelor to having 2 step kids and a daughter on the way within about 6 months. So I've had a lot of "holy shit all the sudden I'm old" moments lately.

I've never said the word "no" so many times it's ridiculous.

 

Nothing has made me feel as old as when my daughter was upset that I might die soon because old people die. I was 32 at the time.

 

My first "old moment" is when I came to the realization that classic rock channels have added grunge music to their regular programing.

 

Yeah, I noticed that too. The "oldies" station now plays a lot of the stuff I used to listen to in the 90's..

 

Well, I just got back from the grocery store and I bought some pumpkin beer. I'm used to getting carded because everyone thinks I look young. The cashier simply asked how old I was... I had to think about it for a minute lol... I couldn't believe she didn't card me. Guess I look honest, or I look at least 21, or she just wanted to close up shop because I was one of the last customers...

-you don't get carded for alcohol anymore
-you have to think about how old you are when someone asks..
