It’s now been 16 years since Monica Lewinsky got outed for sucking Bill Clinton’s dick in the Oval Office. Isn’t it time for American society to let her out of social prison? She was never convicted of a crime or even arrested, but she’s never been able to get a real job or have a serious personal relationship. Meanwhile, Bill Clinton earns millions every year in public speaking fees. In my state, you rarely see anyone get more than 12 years for armed robbery. If we gave a life sentence to every young girl who fucked an older married guy one time, do you have any idea how many more prisons we would have to build? It’s time to let her move on.

Sometimes, it seems like America hasn’t progressed much since the days Nathanial Hawthorne wrote about, when the Puritans made a young adulteress wear a scarlet letter A on her dress so that she would feel embarrassed and ashamed every day of her life. Online shaming is almost exactly the same thing.

Don’t even get me started on the sexist aspect of this story. The double standard should be obvious to everybody.

hmmmm. I don't give a shit what politicians are doing in their sex lives...it should never be a point of focus, imo......that is their business.....or should be.......my business is how what they are doing is affecting my life.

The whole ML scandal bored me to tears....like is this all we have to worry about with all of the other problems in the world?

She was just a moon-struck youngster when that happened. Clinton should have not allowed it to take place.

Sexual issues always get blown (!) out of proportion and it's usually the woman that suffers.

It amazes me that out of the millions of galaxies and stars...all of the possibilities and billions of years of existence....all of the great and not so great things on our planet and in our societies....people will focus on whether one dick got sucked. People do that to themselves too by not forgiving themselves for mistakes or in other ways. Out of all that I posted....that one thing that you did that makes you cringe to think about....it's not really a big deal.

maybe there's a reason for that beyond having sucked a famous dick once. lots of women have gotten caught doing stupid things and then went on to be successful in their personal and professional lives. i just don't believe that she has done everything right yet nobody will date or hire her purely because of that one incident.

Oh please. She probably never got a real job (other than sucking Clinton's cock) because she got rich off all the publicity and never needed one.

Who the hell said she's in a "social prison" other than the attention whore herself and the feminists who even find her name relevant enough to mention? Stop believing everything you hear in the media.

This is a non-issue and amounts to little more than tabloid gossip. Funny how this woman is in a social prison, yet whenever her name fades from people's memories, she returns to cry foul for the cameras. Boo fucking hoo.

Blaming the American public because she got outed for sucking the president's cock and is now trying to shift the blame off herself (in the name of money and publicity) is rather asinine.

I don't feel sorry for her in the least.

Can't stand her. I'm a fan of "What goes on behind closed doors...." She violated that to the max and still is.
She is totally without any class. She loves the role of victim and totally uses it for her edification.
"Oh me, poor me, please feel sorry for me."
Never was a victim, she was an adult who couldn't keep her mouth shut (Humm, might be a pun there).
Maybe the reason she hasn't had gainful employment since the incidence is because she is without any skills
other than what the world knows about her.

Her age was a major issue. He should have known better.

Compare and contrast to the Gennifer Flowers affair. She was a mature woman with an established career, and was already open about being a sexually adventurous person. All the attention she got amounted to little more than free publicity for the cabaret she owned in New Orleans. She performed there until she retired after Hurricane Katrina. I wouldn't have gone to see her show if it hadn't been for all those news stories.

When I was 22, I did more than Monica did with older men, but fortunately, they weren't famous enough for the mainstream press to give a damn. Otherwise, I could have become unemployable too. The men would have been fine.

Maybe she didn't develop any significant job skills because she was fresh out of college and no one ever gave her a chance to develop any. I wouldn't hire her. She comes with too much baggage. She would be too big of a distraction around the office. All our clients would have questions and comments about her past. Who wants to deal with that?

To this day, anybody who's interested can read all the explicit sexual details at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/icreport/icreport.htm

She was required by law to testify before a federal grand jury, and the testimony was posted online.

The FBI threatened her with significant prison time if she didn't wear a wire in an attempt to entrap President Clinton, and she bravely refused. All this is described in the posted video, just beyond the 6:00 mark.

I can find no evidence that she ever made one cent from any of this.

I guess Playboy never offered her anything either. The Hugh Hefner playboy that is, not Bill Playboy.

Are you kidding me? She turned down offers from Playboy, Penthouse, and Hustler. She was still hanging onto the idea of getting a job where she would be taken seriously, where she could use her college degree. I think she should have taken the money. Probably, she was influenced by her family.

Gennifer Flowers posed for Penthouse, many years ago. She looked great. I'm glad I got to meet her before she retired and moved to Texas. She sounded great; put on a good show. I encountered her in a hallway, on the way to the bathroom. She was friendly and nice. She looked better in person than she did in pictures. I can see why Bill was hot for her.

I'll bet Hillary threatened both women with murder. Nobody will ever know.

Then she should reconsider and stop being a whiny little bitch.. I suppose its to late since fake mls dominated the porn scene and a few corny xxx reenactments ..

Everyone who has posted in this thread did something stupid in their 20's. I'm sure they would be singing to a different tune if they had been ridiculed for it. Endlessly. For well over a decade.

I can't think of any young women who received the amount of publicity Monica Lewinsky did and went on to find success with a professional career. I can think of women who capitalized on their publicity by becoming reality stars and some were maybe offered a jewelry line or perfume and fooled themselves into thinking they were finally being taken seriously. More power to Ms Lewinsky for not taking that route.

Then there's the issue of whether or not it's ever appropriate or fair to require a woman to testify under oath and give explicit details of sexual encounters, and then post the transcript online. This reminds me of the tricks that were once commonly used to intimidate rape victims into remaining silent.

For me, the scariest part of this story is that online slut shaming can be used on people who did stuff before the internet existed. Right wingers used to warn us that all secrets would be revealed on Judgment Day, but they didn't warn us that it could happen much sooner, while we were still alive!

If I was in college today, my lifestyle would probably be much closer to that of a christian conservative. Not because I believe in any of that, but out of fear of lifelong punishment. :(

I can't imagine she would not find a job because of that one action and the media attention that followed it. If she would live here and wanted a job she is qualified for I'm pretty sure she would have got one in the last 15 years. Social prison America must be worse than I think.

    I would hire her :afro:
