A power ballad is a slow or soft song by a so-called "hair metal" band that showed the bands sensitive side while featuring a ripping guitar solo to show their heavy side.....Some of the 1s I like are

    Sister Christian - Night Ranger
    Wait - Night Lion
    Is this love - Whitesnake
    Hysteria - Def Leppard
Have you ever needed someone so bad - Def Leppard
    Open Arms - Journey
Send her my love - Journey
    Whos Crying Now - Journey
    Faithfully - Journey
    These Dreams - Heart
Against all Odds - Phil Collins

80s and 90s "power ballads" make me cringe. Just the name makes me cringe.

In 2014, Ed Sheeran play the half time show at our AFL grand final, just one guy with a guitar. Slash did the half time show at our NRL grand final, one guy with a guitar who didnt even sing, the singing was prerecorded....bth times were like what the fuck

Went to Avicii in march this year, that was also bizarre, mostly just one guy on stage pumping his fist to mostly pre-recorded stuff

The 80s were pretty dorky, but no one really seems to be able to fill stadiums anymore, and no one really seems to care, or care that its all live or a whole band.

At the risk of sounding like an old fart, I miss the days of when it was Poison or Skid row, 50.000 people and you remarked to your friend they sounded crap becuase they where actually trying to play live. Brett Michels and CC Deville strutting around like complete tools, for want of a better word the gay ass power ballad every 5th song, but at least putting on a show.

Name one ridiculous hair band that has emerged since 2000 that can actually fill stadiums. Nothing , Nada

Ed Sheeran with his tour announced budget bargain bin prices for tickets, yeah cos its just one guy with a guitar just standing there singing reflective indie power ballads minus the power.

Da fuq is wrong with music nowadays?
