Why Was Eve Punished More Than Adam When The Transgression Was Disobedience By Adam?

Why was Eve punished more than Adam when the transgression was disobedience by Adam?

"Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (I Timothy 2:11-14)

I think that Adam, not being deceived, was more culpable than Eve.

Why then did God favor the guiltiest, Adam, with, --- he shall rule over you?

Men rule over women? Why when men were not deceived but disobeyed?

What was the transgression, --- if not a wise decision to choose knowledge and wisdom and shun immortality of the flesh, --- even if that were possible, --- and why was Adan not punished as hard as Eve when he was clearly more guilty?

    Regards

    great avatar there Greatestlam

Who is punished beside the innocent?

In theory the guilty have just reward.

We cannot assume guilt for merely being deceived when the simple correction is to see clearly.

Because they needed an excuse to be sexually discriminant. And who better to get that power from than the sky-man who everyone was afraid of?

Same reason Lilith was edited out

Why are you always so obsessed with the Old Testament?

    Yea.

Well, I mean a lot of my point there was that a lot of christians I know don't really feel the old testament holds much weight. I used to be told all the time by people in church.. my mom's friends and such (etc.) that I should just ignore it altogether. lol. Not saying that should or shouldn't be done but when someone is always posing questions about the old testament in a christian subforum it just makes me wonder if they realize or not that a lot of christians don't even focus on that stuff at all.

Really? I never cared enough to pay attention to stuff like that. Fascinating. So much for learning from the past, if you believe that kind of thing anyway

Well, I'm just saying their whole thing is that the Old Testament is full of a vengeful God at many times and that the New Testament is obviously where Jesus comes in and makes things about love basically instead of anger. I was just always told to beware of focusing too much on the Old Testament because a lot of it doesn't apply at all anymore.

We need the New New Testament

7 So Miley came and called the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded her. 8 All the people answered together and said, “All I wanted was to break your walls.” And Miley reported the words of the people to the Lord. 9 And the Lord said to Miley, “All you ever did was wre-eh-eh-ck me, Yeah, you, you wre-eh-eh-ck me”

Captain Obvious in the house: you have to look at the culture of which these stories came from. Men rule over women you ask? Yes, they did there. Sorry, that's it in essence. No point in a blamegame or accuse and convict current christians as a whole for still having that story in their holy book. You can still give it another go if you insist of course. It's all you seem to make these threads for :p

    "you should"... :bobby: *sigh*

Well, I wasn't talking about myself anyways.

Me personally I do not consider myself a christian nor do I view the Bible as most christians do. I see Jesus as more of a metaphor in ways to live and be to attain unity with God- or being a part of God...and I personally believe that Jesus never meant for people to think he was saying he is the only way to God.... BUT....that's just me and is neither here nor there.

When I was responding to the OP- the reason for what I said was because having grown up going to church and around a religious family I have never really know christians who give so much weight to the old testament all the time so when the OP is always on here saying to christians "the old testament says this......EXPLAIN!!".... I just thought I would put that out there.

Also, what Asmo said is true. The context of those times was very different and many things just have to do with the way life and society and people and the church (etc, etc.) were back then.

Churches are extremely slow to adapt to anything. It took the vatican centuries to admit Galileo was right.

Well they were still a big political force at that time. It was a real different era. Now that the church is properly seperated from our country's state issues people like Galileo don't have to limit theirselves to a church's lack of progression/adaption at all.

Why when this myth has been used to subjugate women and deny them equality forever?

Or do women not realize this?
