It's not something I've been thinking about much. I've read a bit in the newspapers and while it is of course a terrible thing i can't help recalling a recent article on the need of world population control...my anti establishment mind conjures conspiracy! Although admittedly i smoke too much weed :D

I don't worry about it, I wrote a blog before on how vitamin c in mega doses are the cure. The symptoms for Ebola match the scurvy, and both cause vitamin c levels to drop thus in turn causing the victim to essentially bleed out.

That seems like an extremely irresponsible thing to say. Vitamin C is not a cure! Idiot!

Why would you say that? I see humane compassion expressed in the point of understanding the diseased condition. How do doctors stand being that arrogant socialist conceit for the clinic and emergency cure? It's to know we're all out for ourselves and thank God the medicare is paying for it. Time is wasted less on petty interests of arbitrary patients.

A surprisingly high proportion of the Gabonese population could have immunity against Ebola. Antibodies to the virus were found in 15.3% of rural communities, whereas these people had never had haemorrhagic fever or other specific symptoms of the disease (such as severe diarrhoea or vomiting). IRD researchers and their partners 1 recently discovered this large number of healthy carriers among Gabonese people, even in areas where there has never been an Ebola outbreak. The scientists consider that these people have somehow come into contact with the virus, probably present in fruit contaminated by saliva from Chiroptera (fruit bats) 2.
Ebola fever epidemics have been striking central Africa for more than 30 years. Today the researchers know that Chiroptera, suspected of being the natural reservoir of the virus, can contaminate humans directly. However, the exact mechanisms of human contamination are still uncertain. This study sheds new light on the circulation of Ebola in the wild and on the threat it poses for humans, which could prove to be less severe than predicted

So... are you calling him an idiot? :D And after you had a certain amount of vitamin c you will pee out the rest, as I understand it.

Yes, I am daring to criticize you. Don't you get how dangerously irresponsible you are being? Please tell us, in detail, how you have come to believe that you know more than every doctor in the world. If you cannot, then you have seriously harmed your reputation.

I wish we still had a reputation system here on HipForums, because we need one.

Oh well, since you took off my hasty response, i'll say that the U.N. is at fault for ISIS, not Ebola.

No, I am not worried (yet). That one case in Texas is in complete quarantine. The person had been traveling in West Africa.

It can be treated pretty successfully in rich denizens of the first world. And a vaccine is possible, it's been cured with blood transfusions from survivors who had the antibodies.

It's the four or five or six billion people who are fucked.

The media is totally down playing this virus. When the outbreak started they said the chances of it coming to the U.S. was next to zero. Now it's in the U.S.

5000 cases doesn't seem like much now, but if you extrapolate it could be 1 million by January and 1 billion by the following January if nothing is done.

The western lowland gorilla—already a critically endangered species—may face extinction in the wild if the Ebola virus is not curtailed. Depending on the strain, the virus kills up to 95 percent of infected great apes. There is no cure, but an Ebola vaccine developed for humans may offer hope to our close genetic relatives, chimpanzees and gorillas. Still, the dense tropical forests and the animals’ tendency to hide would make immunizing great apes difficult. So, WCS health experts and their partners are testing methods to deliver oral vaccinations to great apes, which are picky eaters. During this vaccine research, the scientists are also collecting biological samples to test for other diseases that may threaten wild great apes.
The remoteness of many African communities can sometimes slow the flow of Ebola information and outbreak warnings. Cultural issues surrounding the isolation of sick patients and the consumption of bushmeat can also potentially hinder efforts to prevent Ebola virus transmission.

Seeking Ebola exercise actors and actresses ..

The exercise will include simulated landing at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Suspected Ebola-infected travelers will then go about their daily lives and keep track of the people they come into contact with. Participant will keep simulation records and report back to drill team leaders.

Required visits to local hospitals to assist in measuring response to infection.

This operation seeks 1300 people. No experience required.
