After a week I came back from USA I'd like to discuss about Miami taxis.
First of all, to be honest, I didn't like this city much; I expected something different.
Anyway, our hotel was on Collins Avenue and SoBe was about 13 miles from it. Since metro bus system was f**king impossibile to understand and since we stayed there only 3 days, we decided to use taxis.
The thing that surprised me is that most of taxis didn't accept credit cards! I believed that America was the land of credit cards, but what I experienced in Miami made me change my mind.
And when we found a taxi enabled to pay with credit cards the taxi driver said us that he would prefer cash because he needed cash.
Once we stopped a taxi on Indian Creek and I made the question: "Do you accept credit cards?". The driver responded me: "Where are you going?" and I said him "Lincoln Road". Finally he said that the route was too short and he couldn't accept credit cards. Then I made him understand I wasn't interested in paying with cash and I said goodbye.
Is this normal? In NYC I paid with credit card even very low fares!

Don't ever tell a cabbie where ur going until ur in the cab. NYC cabbies have no problem taking cards but u have to pay a mandatory 20% tip that way.

Well, you can choose the tip: if I remember well it was 10-15-20%.

yea for next time here are some tips for tourists in miami:

    1) use google maps to map out your route via busses, when you learn the bus routes they are actually quite convinient, and in downtown miami you can take trains and trollies which are free.

    2) if you use taxis, only a few take credit cards so be sure to have cash handy. also listen to ace's advice, dont tell the cabbie where your going untill your already on your way. heres my technique: call them, dont give them the address where your going, tell them the "area", and give vauge directions untill your inside the cab. hahahah.

    3) you can also use apps like uber to get rides, very popular in sobe and downtown. you can also rent bikes really cheap in sobe and get around very easily. you can bring your bike on busses and trains also.

    4) miami and south beach are hot spots for house music and night life. if your looking for a nice quiet place, dont go to miami or south beach, its gonna be full of hot teenagers partying. if your into that kinda scene this is the place for you, go to wanttickets.com to see what dj's are in town and talk to the locals to learn about parties, theres many every single night. If your a guy and want to hook up with the hottest fucking sluts this side of the country, your in luck cuz theres no place where you wont be surrounded by hot teen pussy!

    5) talk to the locas at bars, lounges, and the beach to find out the best places to hang out, theres a lot of bars and clubs where you can get cheaper drinks than the tourist traps around collins and ocean ave.

    6) looking for some herb? talk to the younger locals at the beach.

    7) pussy pussy pussy pussy poppin everywhere!!

    8) sorry u didnt have fun, are you old?
