When thinking of getting NEW cpu related device

Someone answer these below!!!!!!! I narrowed it down to two cool ones.

Acer Latop? Best pro of pros? Worst con of cons?

Kindle Fire HD? Best pro of pros? Worst con of cons?

 

Depends on the different models and which you choose. You mention CPUs, laptops almost always have processors running the AMD64 architecure (64-bit chips manufacured by either Intel, or AMD). Tablets almost always run ARM system-on-chip processors, which are produced by many different companies in 32 and 64bit flavors now.

Laptops have more memory, a bigger screen, more storage space for data, larger physical size and weight than tablets which will obviously be smaller, lighter, use less power. There are also hybric laptop/tablet computers that can act as a laptop or a table by removing the screen from the keyboard but they tend to be fairly expensive.

 

Get a desktop system....

 

I second the desktop idea. Now that we have HDMI ports, you can hook it up directly to a giant tv screen. Buy a bluetooth minikeyboard w mousepad and you're set!!

Desktops are a lot more reliable and fun. If you made a mistake and don't like what it has inside, you can almost always just pop a new or diff chip in it and upgrade away. Usually can't do that with laptops (or tablets...) and most all tablets run android. I prefer Windows. Windows 7. 8 on up is just ridiculous imo.

 

not so much anymore... I remember when AMD chips could be swapped out with Intel chips on the same board (socket 7 and before...)

now different chips use different sockets and chipsets as well as different memory controllers. you might be able to upgrade a chip if the chip u have is on the low end ...

I have an ASUS board with an amd fx 9590 and there's no way I could upgrade past that cuz that's the highest end chip that fits that board. to upgrade chips I would have to upgrade the board (and most likely memory) as well.

 

Jeez. Well, the last computer I took apart was Windows XP era. I remember feeling so cool when I upgraded my 233mhz processor to a 350. XD I still use Windows 98!

 

you'll be getting more out of the acer, i have a fire phone and the app store is pretty small compared to android and apple stores.

Weighs about 200 lbs, but it gets the job done. LOL
