If you could decorate your home in any style what would you choose?

If I had a house,i would decorate it 80s style (or maybe earlier) -- I dont like the garbage in the world now,i would try to get some good Aluminum siding,I would get stuff that was NO NEWER THAN 1989 as I think by the year 2000 the world had gone to complete crap and it makes me sad!!!!!!!

I am very thankful TO NOT HAVE A COMPROMISED MIND.... I still have the same values I had in the 80s and earlier AND I AM VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT :)

Lots of spiritual and pagan stuff I believe.
Right now my place is kinda over the place because it's a modernised house with a modern layout and kitchen etc. fake wood floors that I'll eventually put real boards down on and I like my furniture a darker wood stained color. I also like fake house plants to green it up and add some color. Most of my enjoyment is from my picture frames and statues. I like my pagan god statues and dream catchers and soldier statues etc. also have a some diecast cabinets mounted on the wall in my show room.

HA! Never compromised here, either, dude....:)...aluminum siding? Do you want to live in a metal can? lol

    I hate aluminum siding.....

at any rate, I like contemporary, minimal living......easy things to keep clean and care for....never get that, though(imagine a beach house with sandy, white colored things....big easy couch in light color.....and modern artistic pieces)........I have inherited things from everyone that I have to house. My favorite things in this house are the white furniture I had as a kid.....

I like victorian ornate in other people's homes.....

Money isn't my problem, my wife is mine. I would just have chairs, a couch, tables to eat on, some houseplants, and some lighting, oh, and a bed.

My wife has to have certain furniture, certain colors, certain curtains, etc...

My true nature is an interior decorator.....well, anything artistic is me, anyway.....so I am never happy having to house everything under the sun here for my brother...who may or may not want someday..... this or that someday....

Your main problem is your wife, expanse...lol
I would be a problem, too, as I have to have certain colors even for tissue boxes....lol

Tissue boxes too! That's how my parents were (mom still is) and that's how my wife is. I guess I'm the odd one.

Well, I would get annoyed having to shop for my mom the last 10 years and when she wanted sponges...she only wanted green and orange. I had to keep the blue, pink and purple ones......and had to keep buying those cello sponges 4 packs as there would only be 2 of the color she wanted in each package. I used to yell at her about it...but I am getting that way myself now....I guess I am not so bad about sponges yet, though...but I think it was the only thing left in her world she could control..maybe...and she was superstitious about certain colors....too..I think...She liked what she liked and hated what she hated.....

Mine is good, it's why I bought it. Cedar siding, looks modern in and out and all is in a maintenance free condition.
If I ever did change it I old go for more of an old country style look like old wooden doors on the cupboards. And more old style furniture. Right now it's quite a modern style furniture that's easy to keep clean and looks clean.
Money is not an issue, it's me. I would need to go out and start looking for this stuff and I don't really know where to start. For now it gets a fair amount of compliments even if I would want anything else so I am satisfied with it.
There is a pic or two in my profile showing the outside and inside. I think it works.
I do tend to go for funky things tho, like things other people don't have and where I find those is in the classifieds. I have a very old chair that makes itself into a table beside a living room chair. Its odd and has steal wheels under it, also a very old card table that has these little pullouts in brass on the corners, it was meant to pop out as a drink holder, then pop out another piece as an ashtray and all the pieces work and have their brass bits intact. You don't even know they are there which blew my mind. Such an old piece and yet still sturdy and working. Paid a couple hundred off the classifieds for that one because someone had to move and get rid of it. I will eventually have lots of pieces like those if I keep looking there for them. Something I only started doing the last few years, piece by piece.
This is a pic of the crystals I have going on in the kitchen. I love seeing them in the morning.

Cedar anything is great, Sally. It repels mosquitoes....I have cedar trees here.....wish I could have cedar siding, too...maybe someday.... I also like brick and stone houses.

The foundation here is double brick....going up pretty high.

I seriously didn't know that but I also wondered why I don't see them here very often, if they do come around they leave as fast as they come, I thought we just had a non aggressive type for some stroke of luck but ya, I have been bitten once in the years I have been here.
There is paint over the boards but I guess it still works.
Mind you our town is aggressive about informing the people every summer that you should never leave standing water around in a yard so I see them around town but still not very much like years ago. Years ago they ate me like I was made just for them, even before they would attack others, something in my blood attracted them.

Good quality hardwood floors, brightly colored walls, lots of paintings from local artists, stainless steel appliances, anything but granite countertops. I hate the granite counter top trend. Tile backsplash in the kitchen, and other than that it would be basically the same as it is now, lots of bright colors, lots of free and natural decorations I've found in the great outdoors

I live with others, so they are in charge of the home decor. But, if I own my own home, it would be a small place. Very small, so small there is no hidden areas. I wouldn't put anything up on the walls, so the walls will be plain. I also wouldn't put stand up fixtures or those you put on shelves. Of course, I will have what is needed for house maintenance and comfortably, such as a sofa, cleaning supplies, etc. but, nothing that has personality, if you know what I mean. I will also have an empty room with nothing, so I can lay in it. Of course, I will have the materials for my hobbies and interests, but nothing of surplus, unless I have a good enough storage system where I can hide them, so I won't have to look at my consumption.

All in all very minimalistic and with no identity. My room is very much like that.

Although I would like more space I would probably have the same antiques and recycled furniture. My style is early Salvation Army. :daisy:

    A Mid-Century Modern decorated in 70's MOD....

    Wait!

    That's what I have...

Additional funding would be nice so I can finish what I've started though.
