i think we're certainly living more comfortably, but not neccesarily better. sure, maybe even quality of life is better, but at the costs of freedom, integrity, reality.
The human race? That is difficult to answer as there are so many varied living conditions today. The first world certainly has it better in amenities and living conditions compared to any time in history. But there is poverty, (national poverty not poverty in First World) that is probably just as bad if not worse then any point in history. With globalization of a few nations, several of these poor nations are being stripped of their resources and diseases are pervasive, etc.
^^ And we have to thank the people that murdered 6 million Jews for that! I've heard numerous times just how much the nazis helped shape science, technology and medical research.
So...let me get this straight....you equate any medical advancements with 1940's Anatomy Lessons done by the Nazi's upon the Jews? LOL!! That is like comparing the first person to figure out how to make fire with the current Free Electron Laser! TooReal
Well not "any" advances, possibly some. Possibly stuff with twins and hypothermia etc. Altitude and pressure testing, how long can sailors stay alive on pure salt water etc. Let's just say, I highly doubt their research was incinerated because it was worthless. And actually we know it wasn't all worthless. Ie. operation paper clip.
It is true that such data was saved. But were are using Retroviruses to deliver Genetic Cures....Inoculations and Vaccinations for T.B., Mumps, Measles...etc....had nothing to do with such data. TooReal
Yggdrasil is making an excellent point. Every bit of advancement we achieve comes with an equal or possibly greater amount of suffering. Our ancestors knew how to live in harmony with their environment many thousands of years ago and the further we get from that lifestyle, the more off balance we become. We may have computers, restaurants, and iphones but that means that roughly 4 billion of us are debt slaves, and 3.1999 billion of us are real slaves. The elite, homeless, and tribal, make up a tiny percentage of the people on this planet, and because of our lifestyle, which is being spread across the world, they're the only humans that are truly free. I'd be happy to give up a bunch of the conveinience that our unsustainable, lost lifestyle makes possible....and I have. So, I'm working on joining the .0001% that's actually living free on this planet, but I'm trying to thrive by doing it from the bottom rather than attempting to rise to the top. It's pretty lonely down here though.... We could be better off. We could have utopia and it's easier than anyone ever imagined. It doesn't mean we will but there's no reason to give up hope.
