I assume that most on this site know that the media is fake....and we all know many who believe it!!

I think it would be a good idea to compile evidence on this thread for those who believe MSM!

Here is a good link to start with!

Here is a great movie showing how with CGI they can make ANYTHING THEY WANT appear!

That's why I'm going to be a bit dubious if we ever in fact land on Mars or on the other side of the moon like we've been told by 2020. With the CGI I just won't be sure and I can't take it for granted any longer.

How is tv an assault on free will if we are watching it out of free will (or not)? Is somebody making you watch tv over there or something?

I don't think it's a question of an assault on free will. But there is a kind of feeling I get from a lot of media, esp. news media, that what is being presented in the way of comment is presented as though it were a kind of consensus to which any sensible person or normal person would subscribe. Of course, that is going to have an effect on public opinion even though it's only the view of the editors/owners of the media in question.

Do they seek consciously to manipulate public opinion? I think so.
For instance powerful newspaper magnates like the Murdoch's ensure that their papers always reflect the political opinion or vested interest of the Murdoch's.
Repetition of the same message over and over may well result in a kind of Pavlovian conditioning effect.

Even if it doesn't create people's views, it probably does reinforce them in the direction desired.

The assault is not overt as you propose. It's covert, also known as subliminal suggestion. For examples click here.

You may not be technically forced to watch tv, but it's ubiquitous and completely agenda driven. If you want news or entertainment in video form, the attack is there.

I don't know if I would call it manipulation. I see it more as businesses who take advantage of anything that can be blown out of proportion in order to make a buck. Notice how most "stories" only run a few times, then the next big scary or ridiculous happening is the big news. They just jump from issue to issue without concern for the issue itself, just the money they can make out of how they write up the story they put on the air or in the papers, or magazines.

People should find out more about the News Media Station they watch.
Find out who's the owner and co-owners are, and who they represent.
Google the information to find out.
I trusted only Fox 5 for the truth, till I found out the co-owners of Fox 5.
    Prince Al-Waleed of Saudi Arabia!!!!
How the heck in the world are foreigners running our news!
I feel we are all being played against each other by every media out there .

Oh my a foreigner as boss of a media station. That can't be credible. Only americans are valid owners when it comes to news stations.

yup, I'm sure that days after the first caveman scrawled some marks on a cave wall it was being manipulated and distorted.
since the beginning of civilization and written language there has been "media manipulation".

The thing is: is it useful to simplify all media as fake and/or rubbish just because it is manipulated? After all, it is not all manipulated/distorted to the same extent and we still take notice of newsworthy things in the world we otherwise wouldn't take any notice of. As long as we use our brain media and news is still something we can take advantage of (in regards of getting to know things).

Not everything that is distorted is fake. And not everything that is manipulated is evil or stupid. To insist we can simplify media and news (from media) as a whole as fake or rubbish etc. IS what is stupid.

Has anyone ever thought that the investigative journalists that publish these stories have opinions?

But uhm yeah, don't believe everything you hear; as it were.

I somewhat agreed with you. Because Media is fake not by all means. Media adds more value to a simple thing that make it viral..
