I've been a nudist for ten years but it wasn't untill recently that I became a full time nudist...only at home, sadly. In the old days, when my grandparents were still alive I could only be naked in my room or when I went hiking in the woods. They weren't open minded at all. It was difficult to be a nudist..so much so that I got out of it for awhile.

Now I live alone and I'm free to be naked all day and it feels so incredible...especially when I get to mix alcohol with it, hehehe.

But unfortunately I don't know any nudist in my area, and everyone I do know are prudes that always ask me to put on clothes. I usually just slip into skimpy under wear, hehehehe...they don't like that either. That's usually what I go outside in, when the weather permits. I just wished I could find some other nudist.

You will like it better once you make it to a nude beach or resort. It's very addictive. Good luck cheers

    Thanks.

Oh, I meant to ask if any of you have a similar experience?

My experience of nude recreation is not at home, but at beaches, spas and saunas. So it is very different from yours.

Most people start nudism at home (like I did at 13 as a closet nudist). But there comes a time when you want to experience more and with others. You'd be surprised to see how many aren't shocked with nudity, I can tell from experience. If there's no nude beaches or resorts you can go to ,then you might have to go to secluded areas or your own yard if possible. Be open about it with friends and family and you just might find a few willing to share that lifestyle with you. Many admitted to me after "catching" me naked at home, lake, etc, that it was no big deal and only natural. Just to show that most are more open than we think. The thing is not to impose it on others as it would be disrespectful. Btw enjoy it to the fullest while you can :)

I've came out about being a nudist to everyone I know, family, friends(don't have friends anymore though) and none of them were interested. Did I mention I live in Alabama? ~sighs~....I wished I could afford to move.

Sorry to hear that. A true friend wouldn't dump you for being a nudist as long as you don't impose that on them. Respect goes a long way both ways, not only from you but from them also. Live your life as intended and true friends will emerge.

They didn't dump me because I was a nudist. I always ask them first before I would remove my clothes....but none of them would go for it.

Having tried both home and beach/outdoor/sauna nudity I feel that home alone nudity is a very poor second experience. Yes it can be more comfortable being clothes free but you don't get the same feeling of liberation you get on a beach especially with other naturists (or even tolerant textiles). Nude gardening is worthwhile and nude decorating/housework more practical but simply being naked worried in case someone calls just doesn't cut it for me.

    Hi Cassandra,

Maybe the key is not to look for “pure nudist” friends, but for friends who accept you as you are, with all your shades and also with your penchant for going bare. My experience tells that you do not find many people who tend to live naked and at the same time are on the same wavelength to become a good friend– but that there can be good, open minded friends who doesn’t make a big deal about nudity. I think you are on the right way already, as you told you asked your friends if they would feel fine if you get rid of clothes.

I don’t want to seem narrow minded, and I don’t know much about the social conventions where you live, but just one thought: maybe wearing only some skimpy underwear if your friends ask you not to go naked might not be very helpful, as in their eyes it might still count as inadequate - particularly if you practice this style outside openly. Actually, for me I would consider if I can go somewhere in skimpy underwear, I can go bare too, nearly almost. I have some slight summer dresses for these purposes you can throw over easily and still give a nice “almost nothing” feeling but though are sufficient for many social situations. I know others who prefer a big tee shirt or blouse because of the comfortable loose fit, but for me I think a nice dress looks better, and I feel better wearing it. This is a matter of personal preferences and style of course. Another idea is putting on tight running shorts and a little tank top, this also feels not very restrictive, but counts as sufficient at least in sportive settings. This is my favorite summer hiking gear if I go with people who don’t feel ok with me going nude, or if I hike naked and we hit a place where nudity this is not recommended.

Hope you’ll find some open minded friends soon! Take care!

I just hate how insecure people are about nudity, even partial nudity. I hate clothing, period. I shouldn't have to accommodate these ignorant prudes..and I'm not. If I wouldn't get arrested I'd go naked in public.

Did you try a nude beach/resort? Is there any around? It's easy to find out by going to "clothesfree.com" and look up nude beaches around your area. I hope you find a place where you could go and make nudist friends there. I wish you good luck.

Nudism = indeed Natural, however, the views of society's normality does have a degree of aloofness about it now - and then there is the sex element about it - with so much emphasis / concern over the pheadofile element, it is Consenting Adults - ONLY, that seems to have an aspect of respectability about it - which is sad

If people stood naked before others - then the shock, curiosity, stigma value may not be as dubious, though that seems most unlikely.

Any which way, Good luck with your freedom of expression :)

There aren't any nude beaches in AL, which doesn't surprise me. But there is a nudist resort but it's couples only! Fucking stupid. I don't care what reasoning they have behind that. Maybe I should go anyways and slip over the wall? What are they gonna do..call the cops?...ooo I'm scared, lol.

    Cassandra,

Years age, there used to be one in Pensacola or Navarre, Florida. I can't remember which one.

    Gymno-Vita?
I thought the no-singles policy was only with regard to males.

No... looking at their website I see it's couples-only.

Really, being Alabama, it's a bit amazing that there is even Gymno-Vita.

From there it's not such a distance to Paradise Valley or Serendipity in Georgia.
I do realize that even that distance is a bit of a bother, but in Alabama it's probably the best you can do.
