The democrats are Left so the Republicans should be right, however it seems a large number of the Republicans today are also Left, which necessitated the coining of the term RINO.

That said, and assuming you're referring to right versus wrong, recognize as fact that frequently there can be as many right answers as wrong answers, when all the factors are taken into consideration.

Individual hits it again. The Libertarians are correct. Dr. Ron Paul should be considered the "Godfather" of our cause. Thank - you Dr. Paul.

    Pretty thin OP.

Rather than join a blame game, I'm thinking: A President should serve for one term only.
The 17th Amendment should be repealed and Senators should be appointed by The State Legislators.

These moves would hopefully lead to a less partisan Gvmt.

The Office of President and Senator loose dignity with all the constant political campaining

How about this suggestion on campaign financing?
Contributions can only be made to candidates in which you can vote for. That would leave both houses of Congress to be funded only by their respective constituents, the Senate candidates funded State wide, and the House candidates funded within their respective districts.

As it is most all the members of Congress are funded by individuals, and other entities nationally, as well as by their respective National party, and as a result are beholding less to the constituents of their district or State than they are to contributors and their National party.

That's the result of a large Central government over 50 individual States.

They are both politicians, assuming you are referring to those who we allow to govern us.

i don't think it's the default end result of a nebulous concept like central government. but the current entrenched system of D vs R, lib vs con, kinda makes it hard to take a measured and rational position on issues.

people buy into the idea that it's an either/or proposition. the political scene today is manichaen, it's a divide and conquer.

exactly, like Mike said, same coin. and buying into the idea that things are as simple as either/or is the product of simple mindedness. a thoughtful person realizes that social issues are never black and white and to paint every issue facing a community or country as such is a cop-out, an unwillingness or inability to give more consideration to a problem than just swallowing the latest "left wing" / "right wing" talking point.

Neither is right. People with a sense of right and wrong are not successful politicians.

The political class is accountable to the real architects of the society, which in this case are primarily the head honchos of the private economy. In order to "get the job" politicians must have the qualities that these masters wish to see--our electoral charade notwithstanding. The primary qualities of this kind are malleability and corruptibility.

In the case of this society, both Democrats and Republicans work for the same people. There is a narrow ideological divide between them which gives the semblance of a deliberative legislative process, but in reality they are both servants of the same powers.

really well worded Raga, not just cause i essentially agree. :)

seems to me, when you say both sides work for the same people (if you mean it like i mean it) i tend to think it is that idea that bothers some if not most of the extremists... really, the extremists of most colors.

in the US at least, we're supposed to have a representative government, representing those that elect them. instead they mostly represent their own interests either directly or through the power and money interests that help them in their campaigns for office.

my theory is that many of the yelling and screaming going on in public discourse is by people that mostly just don't feel represented. and can't blame anyone for that these days.

Democrats are probably more in the Republicans are on this debate.

The Right has chosen to become fixated on Obamacare in order for them to be won over.

They should learn how to bargain better since Democrats pretty much left it open that they'd compromise on other issues I'm sure the Political Right wants.

However some political issues both sides share are gerrymandering problems which contributed to the gridlock we're in currently.

Issues which present major problems both immediately as well as into the future should be dealt with swiftly and compromise on unrelated issues, less major, rather than dealing with the major issue is both irrational and irresponsible.

republicans brag about being wrong, but democrats aren't entirely right either. environment is the main event. rights come from culture. neither are the product of ideology.

Neither party meets the needs of the majority of the people. 2% of the people have 98% of the wealth? This has got to change. Politicians are no longer working for the people...they are working for themselves and do a hell of a job in padding their own pockets.
