What do you do for a living?

So, what is your job? Are you a student? Engineer? Teacher? Do you feel satisfied with your job, quality of life that it offers, and work environment? Are the hours bearable? Would you recommend the field to others?

    Do you feel underemployed?

I'm curious about what you all do for a living.

I have a love/hate relationship with it, definitely have a passion for it but a lot of times I want to be doing something else. I have a BA but got back into it because of the economy. Eventually I will transition out, no way I'm going the long haul with this shit it's too hard on the body. Looking into MBA programs.

Quality of life is great financially. But other aspects take a toll from the stress, long hours, and just being exhausted a lot of the time after work.

I feel like I've lost a handful of relationships to this field. Ultimately I can only hold myself accountable, but most women (in my experience) want the money but can't be supportive of a hard working man and they roll out when life isn't always fun.

I would not advise people to get into it. It's a calling more than anything, so those who are drawn to it will be drawn to it regardless. All of the old guys told me to run when I was getting into it and I ignored them. Either way it is a hell of a backup skill, as evidenced by the economic crash and me stacking chips in the meantime.

    What do you do?

I am an animal handler specialising in very angry dogs.

I work with a city council, a few rescues and state government as well as RSPCA. I probably would not recommend it to others because FAR too many beautiful dogs die due to a lack of homes. People still prefer to buy from pet shops and backyard puppy mill breeders.
I have in my time euthenaised approx 300 animals and the guilt drives me fkn crazy!!! I have massive lows because of what I have had to do..

I do recommend being involved with shelters if you don't have to do any horrible stuff though because the god bits really are good. I will always work with animals because I understand them better than I do people.

The hours are not that awesome (I do 50 - 60 hours a week) but the money is. As for under employed, no I am happy with what I do..

I have a lot of respect for you grease monkeys.

And, as I have said many times before, I work the graveyard shift at an assisted living home for people with dementia. I work the front desk, answer the phone, clean, do basic maintenance as well as security. Not the greatest job, but I answer to nobody but myself and can pretty much do whatever the fuck I want without anyone looking over my shoulder. After I get my work done, I have the remainder of the night to work out, watch movies, read, listen to music, surf the net (on my phone), study, sleep... whatever.

Enrollment Specialist for United Healthcare. My fiance got me the job, and combined we'll make decent money. It's nothing special but it's alright. It puts food on the table and we can go out and do things on the weekend.

i count money for a very rich company. i sit in a room all day with a safe and count a few hundred thousand and make deposits to the bank.

aaaand in my free time i sell on Amazon and process foreclosed homes.

edited to add im underemployed. any monkey can count money all day. it's getting them to trust you with it that's the hard part.

sometimes i have to count money till midnight if there's a lot of it coming in.

and no, i wouldn't recommend it. i would recommend digging ditches or something like that.
