Cool tile floors, soft and swishy mud, carpet and grass.

Agree. There is nothing like the feeling of a cool tile floor in a shopping mall, grocery or department store when I'm barefoot on a hot summer day.

  4. Or soft ice cream!

(What? This isn't about eating something cool? Oops!)

For sheer pleasure, it's tough to beat mud. But it's difficult to walk very far! Pebbled concrete is very nice...almost like a foot massage. Wood floors are great. I remember overhearing a contractor in Hawaii discussing a planned wood floor...and how it was important to select a grade of wood and finish to make it nice to walk on barefoot.

Firm sand on the waterline, you can feel the earth, the ocean and smell the sea and watch waves crash. Perfect

I don't really think about this much, I don't wear shoes because I'm just not interested in wearing them rather than a statement or philosophy.
However if I had to choose I suppose it would be natural earthy surfaces rather than urban paths, roads etc.

Stone and tiled floor: nice and cool on my feet

Mud: absolute heaven to squish my feet in

Grass: refreshing feeling the grass between my toes

Concrete: warm and surprisingly soft on the feet

    Carpets: sooo nice and comfy

Hot sand: very soft, love burying my feet in it

Rain puddles: super refreshing to step in

mud, grass, packed dirt paths, bottom of creeks, deep of woods.
slick, cool emporium floors also feel somewhat nice.
