I got my first tattoo when I was 20. My buddy's Dad had came down from NY to visit, and brought his Kit with him. I got the holy trinity on my right shoulder. It's small, maybe two inches in diameter. He only charged me $30, and he was very professional about it. Had me sign a release forum, made me watched as he opened a new needle and new ink. Any first tattoo stories out there worth sharing?
My first and only tattoo: I was in my mid twenties. Anyone who remembers an old forum called Bolt, which shut down years ago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolt_(website)) would understand why I got the tattoo. Several old members of the forum got the same tattoo.
Hanson symbol tattoo when I turned 18 then I proceeded to get a tattoo every year on my birthday for the next couple of years... a note to anyone reading this, please refrain from any negative comments towards my favorite band. Don't say, "mmmbop hanson? I thought they died?" or "Hanson? Are you serious?" I've heard it all. I've been a fan for 18 years and they mean a lot to me. This is the only band that has gotten me through tough times and I plan on getting some hanson lyrics tattooed soon which are "I know what to say but don't know where to begin, the fear of losing you beneath my skin" sorry to op about my hanson ramble, but here is the song the lyrics are from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVrJUqd8Eb8"]HANSON - "Underneath" - YouTube
I got a garland of flowers around my wrist. I was 49 years old for my first. I now have three. The guy that did my first was running the shop after hours, gave me a good price, and caused me some problems healing that first one. I had sores so deep that it took 6 months to heal and all the ink came out of those spots. Turns out the dude was geeking on meth and got busted at the shop by the feds a few weeks later. Beware you get what you pay for. Luckily, the owner did not loose his shop. I can't locate my pic right now.
well, apparently all the hanson fans are hiding in maryland then.. I mean, hanson was big in the 90's when they came out but now the fan base has depleted very much. This is kind of cool though because it weeds out the true fans and the pseudo fans. Hanson has a very intimate, dedicated fan base.
They do, which in my opinion is very rare for a lot of bands that started in the 90's and aren't around much any more.
Got one when I was fifteen in Viet Nam. I know, I know, that sounds dangerous, but I got tested for HIV and anything else when I got back to the US and I'm fine. Anyways, I got a key with a padlock in the handle of the key. It has the words Mai Mai written above the key, which means "forever". It's a cute little tattoo, but I want another one soon I think. I just have to come up with some ideas for one.
got my first tattoo when i was 15 i did it myself, with a fucking needle, and some china ink it's a smiley face on my hand, near my thumb, and a little after i did a star on my arm, above the wrist
I was 15. I caught my dad at the weakest moment of his life and took full advantage of it and he let me get one. You can't get a tattoo legally in my state until you are 18 even with parental consent so my step brother knew a guy that did it for me in his basement. It sounds TERRIBLE when I tell the story but it was clean. He had all the machines there to clean his stuff and I saw him take a brand new needle out of the package. It's a shame he spent so much money to ensure he was a clean tattooer because he was a TERRIBLE artist. It's a shitty looking rose. The most trashy disgusting tattoo a girl could possibly get and I have it for the rest of my life on my upper leg. It's tiny. Smaller than a silver dollar. That was my dads requirement. Nobody ever sees it and sometimes I forget I have it until I see it in the shower. I've talked to the guy that has done all of my other ones about fixing it. He thinks he can do something to make it look better but to cover it up is almost impossible because of how dark the colors are. I've thought about having him work it into my favorite picture of Bettie Page. I'd love to have a Bettie tattoo and my favorite picture of her has a flower in her hair. It could possibly work then it wouldn't completely be covered up. I would still have the memory of it but it would look so much better and the focus would be taken off of it.
I got paw prints on my thigh done by my husband and his uncle. It was my husband's only tattoo he's done and his uncle finished it out for me. It start as a trail of paw prints and then turned into a pet memorial piece for me. I have the name of my dog and three of my cats that have passed away on it and plan an entirely separate piece for my dog who passed in 2012. He was my first baby and he died in my arms.
My first was a japanese symbol meaning "soul", that I got done on my neck. Weirdly I wasn't nervous until the guy pressed the needle against my skin and said "I'm gonna start now". I then waited, expecting excruciating pain, but the only thing I felt was the guy messing up with the needle on my neck and something that was close to scratching but not quite. I asked him if he started and he replied that he was halfway done with the tattoo. :yikes: The place looked kinda shady, a small shop tucked in a dark corner of a shopping mall, and the guy wasn't charging a lot, but he was very professional and did an excellent job. In like 20 minutes I was out of there, wearing my new ink with pride, and the whole thing healed in less than a week.
Got my first tattoo at 15 lol I wanted to do something in a butterfly shape to represent how change can lead to beauty. (Like caterpillar into butterfly lol) But instead of traditional wings I chose to do hearts in the shape of an infinity sign to represent how love is forever, and added crosses to represent never ending faith. Also instead of a butterfly body I chose to do the semicolon to represent how at one point my life could have ended but instead I kept going. (Like how a ";" is used in a sentence) And since I wanted to add an aspect of my family into it, after I sketched the original design, I had my BIRTH mom re-draw it and I got it tattooed in her handwriting. (Which is why I call the hearts "imperfect", because since she free handed the drawing they aren't symmetrical or evenly sized.) Sorry that was probably more then you wanted to hear about it haha I'm just used to explaining it since I get questions about it a lot.
In my twenties I got a four leaf clover on my shoulder to celebrate my four years in the Army without seeing any combat. Foolishly, I signed up looking for action. Fortunately, I never saw any with the exception of a couple bar fights.
